odd grumbling/rubbing noise

Hope someone can shed some light on this, I've searched but can't find anything exactly like this problem...

I've just had the car (LC) serviced, and also had the wheels swapped front to back. Now since then I have an odd grumbling/rubbing noise coming from the OSF wheel. I'm pretty certain it's not a bearing, as there are no noises when turning etc. The problem is most evident at slow (<20mph) speeds, and seems less noticeable when under power.

I've checked the wheel bolts which are nice and tight, car doesn't pull in either direction, it brakes in a straight line, and I don't think it's the bearing. (there isn't any appreciable vibration through the wheel either). I've also checked the balancing weights on the wheels and no problems there either.....

Just wonder if anyone has experienced anything similar, or any suggestions what else to check....only thing I could think of was maybe a sticking pad/caliper, but seeing as the brakes have just been cleaned/greased at the service seems unlikely....

Thanks in advance!!

I had a problem where I was getting the same sort of noise at 30 mph + and initially didn't notice a change in noise when steering. Took to a garage that a friend owns and we went for a spin. Accelerated to about 60 mph in fourth then coasted out of gear for a bit with stereo off listening to noise, tried weaving left to right and the noise changed (very slightly). We were 90% sure it was the wheels bearing after that. Got car onto ramp and spun wheels but due to new pads being fitted a rubbing noise that sounds like the brakes was heard. Removede the pads and it became verey obvious that is was infact the wheel bearing which was a c##t to remove. Noise sorted.
If it is the wheel bearing it might take 3 hours to do the job plus bearing price

Did you read the thread that has just gotten a new post about the wheel bearing removal?
Mine had to be gas axed out, not good!!

another quick thought, what is good life for a wheel bearing? Car is 3.5 years old on an 04 plate, and has just literally covered 40k miles.... seems a bit excessive as I've had cars with 120k on the clock before on perfect original bearings.....
