Hi,

I'm getting the cupra wheels refurbed and contemplating getting rid of the diamond cut and going for a single colour.

Has anyone powder coated the wheels and have you got any pics? Can't decide if the wheels will suit bronze or anthracite!

I went gloss black after the lacquer started to peel on a couple of my wheels - they look far better than I was expecting.

These are the wheels on my new Cupra - weren't ordered by me but I love them and polished faces have no appeal to me either.

I guess anthracite covers a wide spectrum of greys. These are definitely a lighter shade of grey than some I've had/seen. Or maybe the spoke thickness and angles just fool my eyes a bit.

Whats the going rate for powder coating nowadays? Used to be £60 a corner last time I got quoted.

Think I've decided on shadow chrome. I pre-booked a black Friday deal and I'm getting them done for £200. Prices seem to range from £200 to £300 a set depending on colour.

Good choice 👍. Be sure to post up a picture with the wheels on the car when you've had them done 🙂.

Seeing as this question has been asked, I'll butt in and ask the same question!

I need to get my winter alloys refurbed in the spring mainly due to them leaking at the valve holes, caused no doubt by Costco finding that they needed to clear away some of the powder coating when initially fitting winter tyres to them many years ago.

So, while I agree with the suggestions given for the body colours shown, my Audi S4 is Deep Sea Blue Pearl - that means, it looks black when the sun is not out, and a very pleasant dark blue pearl when the sun is out, so my question is, Anthracite or Black?

Thanks!

If your car looks black in certain lighting conditions, I would go for a colour that looks a shade or two lighter (than black) to give a bit of colour contrast between the wheels and car colour. IMHO black alloys on a blue/black car would be too much black, and with black alloys you tend to lose the design detail of the alloys, unless you’re standing very close to the car.

I think that mid or lighter shade of anthracite grey would look good. Alternatively, I think shadow chrome in the picture posted by @stugee106 in post #6 looks very good.

Forgot, but also have some pics of our old white FR with gloss black 18” Performance alloys:

Thanks, that was my thinking way of thinking, though maybe I'll leave out the shadow chrome only for the reason that any scuffing might be easier to "cover up/hide" if they were Anthracite.

Look nice

Look chunkier and more emphasis on spoke design as the gloss black hides the detail

Wheels back and look better than I expected.

Very very nice,
I hate solid black alloys, they have always reminded my of a car that has steel wheels with the covers missing 😂
I have the 18' performance alloys in black BUT with the machined finish.
If and when I decided to upgrade to 19's this is the colour I would love to have.
