OEM Bi-Xenon Lense upgrade

I have a 2007 MK2 Leon FR with factory fit xenon headlights.

I'm very keen on my lighting and as such have been a little disappointed with the OEM Xenons in comparison to offerings from other manufacturers.
My research has lead me to understand that much of the relative drop in performance is due to the less than clear, textured glass Fresnel lenses that are fitted as standard.

I am interested in changing the standard Fresnel lense to a much clearer and higher performing one from a US company called 'The Retrofit Source'.

The only problem is that I can't find any information anywhere about what model of projector units are fitted to these lights, so don't know which size lenses to buy.

My gut feeling is that the projectors are basically the same as the VW Golf mkV - E46 projector which take the ZKW-R lenses.
I'd just rather not order the wrong thing - shipped from the US on the strength of a gut feeling.

I know a number of Golf enthusiasts have done this mod to good effect - ie - cleaner cut-off as well as a more even and slightly more intense output below the cut-off.

Has anyone on here swapped the lenses on their mk2 Leon?

If so which model lense is the correct fit.

Hopefully someone on here knows or has done the mod themselves.

Many thanks,

Tim.

Be careful because a lot of people had problems with retrofitting since taking the headlights apart in itself is very hard. I can tell you that A LOT of people really want bi-xenon projector headlights, so if I were you I'd buy a used pair of halogen reflector headlights and retrofit projector lenses on them and see how it works out. If it works out well, then you can either sell your OEM Bi-Xenon headlights (which are very, very requested) for a good price or retrofit lenses to them.

Trust me, there are A LOT of threads about retrofitting and lenses here so do some research before you go ahead and do it.

I retrofitted lenses to my old reflector headlights and basically ruined them, which is why I went for Dectane headlights.

i agree that the xenon head light pattern and brighness is very poor.

Have you not just thought about upgrading the bulb?
i believe the mercedes bulb fits our cars and gives a significant improvement in brightness.

Really! That's interesting to know. I'll look into that. Thanks.

As far as bulbs go, my research reveals that the very best bulbs available are Osram Silver stars which are supposed to give 30% more output.

Looks like no one actually knows the answer to the lenses question.

I guess I'm gonna have to take mine out and measured them if I want to find out.

Think I'll wait till its more than -3 outside.
