So I managed to get a pair of matching OEM Genuine 2016 Seat Ibiza head lights with DRLs.

I want to install these on my wifes 2014 Seat Ibiza 1.2 TSI I-Tech for a fresher look. Question is will it be a plug and play affair? Will I need to re-wire or code anything? I guess I won't know till I try them but I figured I'd ask if anyone else has tried it.

I'm off tomorrow and Wednesday and I was going to attempt it then, looks like 20 mins to whip the bumper off to remove the lights.

Thanks.

Would of though the DRL part will need something sorting out for it. Not sure what but might require some coding. Let us know though if you complete it :)

If the lights can fit with the bonnet wings and bumper then thats a good start.

If you have the Bi-xenon headlights from the 2016 you need to have them on the 2014 one as well, you cannot swap from halogen to Bi-xenon or vice versa.

Next make sure you have the same bulb configuration, if you have the halogen ones these came with 2 or 4 main bulbs (1 or 2 per headlight) for dipped and main beam. You will need to either split it join wires if this is the case.

I would imagine the connectors are the same but check just in case.

For the DRL's you should have the fog light DRL's on your 2014 car, you should be able to take signal from this to run the headlight ones. I don't know if it is possible to code this. Usually these are just sidelights coded to turn on and off with the car and not the switch.

The car has halogen lights as std. The new 2016 headlights are also halogen, the only difference is the DRL strip on the bottom outer edge.

The fit is 100% identical, i'll know by tomorrow what the situation is :)

Update. So the looms on the headlights are nice and long, I was able to unplug the old Headlight and plug it into the 2016 ones without having to physically remove old headlights. Everything works as normal apart from the DRL. So I checked the pins on the 2016 head light and the loom/plug on the car. Pin number 4 on the plug is empty on the car side. Ran a 12V feed off the battery to test on the Headlight side and volia the DRL lights up.

So I'll make up a little relay and get a some OEM pins from the plug (1J097373) and insert it into pin 4. I'll setup a feed to the relay so when the ignition is switched on the DRL is on and when the lights put onto side light or dip beam the DRL turns off.

Will update back when I have done this.

Mission accomplished.

Wiring was all spliced off the Passenger side headlight wiring loom (car side)

Relay.
Positive +12v for Position 30 is Pin 1 (Yellow/Black)
Ground -ve for Position 85 is Pin 7 (Brown)
Trigger for position 86 is Pin 10 (Grey/Black)
Output to the DRL for position 87a - Goes to Pin 4 on the Driver side & Pin 6 on the Passenger side. You need to remove the green water stop bung on the car side loom on both Passenger and Driver side plugs (this will be empty) remove the purple lock from the connector and slide in a new OEM pin. Buy this connector kit and you'll have plenty of spare pieces! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171470626595

I soldered and heat shrink all connections where spliced into the car side loom, then Tesa cloth taped over everything for a clean installation.

Headlight part numbers are
6J2941006K
6J2941005K

Pics for clarification.
