Has anyone heard of the above remap??

I understand they are a german based tuning/remapping company and a company in the UK known as RSD are the UK Distributors for the remap.

Anyone aware of these or ever seen a Cupra with a remap?

All comes down to cost and availability for yourself really mate! They are all pretty similar! Just do some research on what you want! Functions switchable etc. etc.

There's loads of stuff on here just do a search and see what it comes up with!

no more nails chip install is a nice touch. (if they still do it the same way)
ask if its a physical chip or reflash

conservative (but ultimately should be reliable)

As ive said on the original thread i am no longer having the Black LCR because the owner is being incredibly awkward with the deal and at this rate i wouldn't have it for another week!!

The car im on about in this thread is an ovni yellow cupra r that has had an oettinger remap from new and since done 40k miles.

Just spoken to RSD and since 1997 oettinger did eprom maps.

Prior to 1997 they were plug in chips.

So in other words any leon cupra r will of had a remap :)

i think what they mean by that is piggyback with a socket before 97, after it was an eeprom replacement

what do you mean by "any leon r will of had a remap"?

They dont replace the eeprom, they remove it, put the new code on then put it back in the vehicle

so why did they fit a chip and encryption board socket on my 2001 Ibiza in august 2001? - its still a desolder and solder job... they fit a zif type socket onto your ecu's pcb.

physical chip. which answers my question.
no more nails

Shouldn't you be asking them that rather than me?

I'm only telling you what the owner of RSD has told me.

Don't shoot the messenger :p

I think Bill is telling you what happens not asking, he had Oettinger on his Beezer back in the day......when his Beezer was a sensible run around rather than a fire breathing track monster.

Nowt wrong with it as such just an outdated way of doing it

LOL I know the answer and it does'nt match what they told you.
make of that what you will. ;)

physical chip installed in a socket soldered and desoldered into your ecu also moving crystal occilator in the priocess, hence some no more nails silicon goop to stick it together and stop vibrations etc.

my lcr has had this remap.. it was sent to RSD by marshalls the garage when he bought it new in 2003 it was done so it was still under warrantee because they match the manufacturers warrantee. i bought the car last summer had to go to RSD to have the remainder of the warrantee transfered to me.

i cant comment on it compared to any other remaps coz i havent drove any other LCRs.. but ive had no problems wiv it..i was told by the chap i bought it off that it made 260bhp when it was done
