Oil catch tank Cupra R

Hello.

I have a little request. Can you explain me, which hoses I must use to connect an oil catch tank in a Cupra R MK1? The best for me would be a picture of an engine showing a proper connection.

I want to install it, because my air intake hoses and the intercooler are full of oil and I would like to see how much oil is splitted by crankcase vent. system.

The hole in the air intake (after unplugging the hose) must be clogged, right?

yes and blank off the nipple under the inlet manifold aswell, make sure that you vent the catch can with a bit of hose under the car or to a wheel arch as the fumes that it gives off are poisonous

Tell me one more thing, please. I've read about two ways of mounting the catch tank:
- open circuit (as you described above- out hose goes to the atmosphere)
- closed circuit (out hoses are connected back to the inlet manifold and air intake).

Which way is better in your opinion?


Oh, by the way- where is an EGR valve in Cupra R?

First option is good for the engine. You will still get a small amount of oil vapours going back into the engine if you connect it back into the intake. This dulls the octane rating of the fuel and makes a mess inside your boost hoses.

Second option is good for the environment and doesn't smell that much

Oh and cupra r doesn't have an EGR

Exhaust Gas Recirculation Valves are Diesels only i believe.

Excuse me, but I have a problem. Everything is on the picture below:

Is that will be a proper installation of a catch tank? Must I remove this "mushroom-shape", black part?

And secont question: is the hose in the picture below is the vacuum hose? Can it be replaced by a standard, silicon vacuum hose?

Yea you can remove the vacume hose, I ended up replacing it for silicone hose when I done the n249 bypass,

As for the breather pipes,, Iv gone closed circuit, and connected my catch tank outlet pipe back in the intake via the hockey puc/ mushroom,,

The mushroom is still on my engine as it has a fine mesh filter inside to catch all the crap going back in the engine, I replace the mushroom every year when servicing,

Ok. The courier brought me today a brand new oil catch tank. I have bought one with a filter mounted on the top. I wonder, if it would be better if I remove this filter and connect OCT directly to the TIP or leave it there and mount catch tank with the filter. What do you think?
