Oil changes and all that malarky

i have a Diesel Leon and wand to know what peole think abotu regular oil changes, like every 5K miles which is about eery 2 months now. i drive my car well but tere are times where i play.. alot. the novelty value has not worn off yet.

there is a place up the road that does a oil and filter change for £21 and was wondering if it was worthit. if not 5K mile intervauls when.

its just had its 20K service at 17K miles (dealer did it before i got it) so not for a month or so, but yeah...

no offence but you pay for what you get

If you can find out which oil they would use, as you can buy a bottle from tesco for a fiver!

somebody on here will be able to point you to a good quality one, although my next oil is going to be Motul 300V, but i am unsure if there is a diesel version/grade.

well it was more the labour of putting the car up, draining it out, changing the filter etc. they used a decent oil on my golf, but i wuld happily privide my own. thats the only place tat i know of locally that does oil changes, i am sure there ae others, i know if i try to do it my self i just wont.. as i am stupid like that

Hello - just my 2p

IMHO opinion a high quality oil is worth its weight in gold and will outlast changing every 5,000 miles.

If you use quality oil it should cope with the use no problems especially if your doing high miles in a short space of time.

I used to change my oil in my skyline every 4k and only used fully synth so I think you could go longer with a better quality oil...

For £22 I would ask what oil they are using..its probably not worth it to be honest as in the end it could affect the endurance especially if you like playing a bit

okies then, for a diesel what ooil would you reccomend? the oil filter and oil was changed when it was serviced and hopefully it was a decent one, but eh.

Millers XFE-PD seems to be very popular, i bought some to take along for my service which i had done today. Paid £22.99 for 5l from my local motor factors

TBH go with what the manufacturer recommends mate they usually know their stuff and it should be good stuff anyhow

I was ultra paranoid with my cars though and always used silkolene !

Or as said above Millers is also really good stuff
