Oil consumption on my Ibiza Cupra 1.4 TSI

Hi there, just wondered if it is normal to burn a lot of oil on this engine? I have had the car 6 months from new and it drinks the stuff.
I probably top it up 500-600 mil every say 1500- 2000 miles is this normal? there is no smoke funny noises or any problems out of the ordinary, it just seems to be a lot more than I expected.....

yeah, I was topping it up by about the same every couple of thousand. It will get better though. Be careful your getting an accurate reading, because I had problems with mine. Checked around 4-5 times once and it said i had virtually no oil, so i topped up by what it would have taken to fill it up, got to my 300mile destination and it was way over the max.

Only check oil when the engine is cold.

Mine was also doing the same. Just bought 4 litres of oil to save a bit of money hopefully will get better though.

Why do you have to check the oil when cold?

As that's when most of the oil is in the sump therefore giving a more accurate reading of how much oil is in the car

Mine also drinks quite a lot,around 4 litres in the first 8000 miles.
