step dad knows alot about these sort of things

and yeah just its whether its worth getting a new engine or not or whether buying a new car or not. i wudnt mind getting a 3 door rather than a 5 door.

any parts i need i can get em off my m8 who works in a VW breakers yard lol but thanks anyway,

anyone know where i can ger ABF engine parts from??

the truth is, nothing is really wrong, yea theres a little back pressure but its just because the engines a bit worn, it will probably drive for another 5 years like that with no problems if you just clean out the airbox every service, its nothing to worry about.

i hope your right, dont have any money at all for a new engine lol, got a wager with my m8 though, if it is the head gasket that has gone, then i will buy the gasket set and get head skimmed but if its not the head gasket he will,

this is because he thinks the gasket has gone btw lol

well its pointless, it physically cant be the head gasket, its just the engines worn a bit, its normal, it really is nothing to worry about

I agree with G223. You got to expect this kind of thing from a car of our age. You might buy another second hand engine and in 10,000 miles time have the same problem. I have seen ibizas with 150k miles plus on the clock and I bet their airboxes have oil in them too.

Defo worth considering a breather filter on the pipe entering the box as it pretty much cleared my problem up and cost £14 from car shop.
