Hello all,
I recently replaced the MAF on my Leon and while I was under the bonnet I noticed a little oil sitting around the lid of the oil filler cap.
Is this something to worry about?

Not usually anything to worry about. Its probably just some spilled oil from the last oil change. If its going to leak, it won't leak into the rim of the filler cap.

I have just noticed on my Wifes 1.9Tdi Altea a small amount of oil around the rim of the filler cap. It was not there last week when it decided to use some coolant for no apparent reason. Not used any since. Any ideas??:help:

The 1.9 TDis can suffer from head gasket problems although it is comparatively rare. Keep an eye on the coolant level and make sure there is A: no oil in the coolant, and B: no coolant in the oil (this will show us as a mayonnaise like deposit on the underside of the oil filler cap.)

Thankfully no oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil. But will keep an eye on as now out of warranty. Although looking to possibly change for a smaller engined car due to wifes fuel usage.

..

if they oil round the filler cap then its either cause the seal on the cap has gone or your crank case breathers are blocked and its putting all the pressuse on the cap cheak the breather bud
