I am not at all handy with tools, how much would replacing the sump cost? If I were to take to a garage. Sounds like a lot of labour envolved.

I've just experienced this exact problem this morning on the way to work. Red light flashing whole driving and 3 loud bleeps are heard. Temp is always fine, stays bang in middle, and I've just checked my coolant level now and it's on max, completely fine...so maybe it's just a dodgy sensor, I don't know? Is annoying though!

scrape the two prongs in the header tank with a screw driver as it can have a bad connection, I think the header tank has the sensor built in so you could replace the whole tank.

Bloody ell it sounds like you've spent a bit lol. Mines only got Revo stage 1 remap, Magnex cat back exhaust and BMC CDA induction. Only had the car about 4 months. Plan is to get forge TIP, 007 DV and prob cold side relocation. Will prob leave it at that after that. Yh I'll give the prongs a clean and a wipe at the weekend. Like I say temp stays fine and coolant is on max.

Hi everyone, this is my 1st post here, I hope you guys can point me in the right direction ,
I start from the beginning ,

I bought my leon cupra 20v turbo in February this year as spares or repair due to it needing a new dual mass fly wheel, and the speedo not working, so I replaced the dmf with a solid fly wheel conversion kit,

I replaced the vehicle speed sensor, still didn't work, on further investigation a noticed there was only 2 wires in the vvs plug and 3 pins on the sensor so I stripped back the loom and found the earth wire had been ripped out of the plug and was wrapped up round the loom, also made the fuel gauge go bonkers too

all was good then I discovered that the boot didn't open, so went online typed my problem in and found you guys, I fixed that problem by info off this site,

Then I found the crank breather pipe had split, replaced that,

So the problem I'm having now is
The oil light is flashing on and beeping 3 times, then go's out and then it's fine, I've read the threads on here saying its low oil pressure, but
It only happens when the engine is up to temp,it sometimes does this twice in 5 mins, it's fine when cold which I believe if it was low oil pressure the light would flash when cold

Also, this may be linked but my temp gauge plays up it will sit at the bottom even when the car is up to temp, and the next min it's sat bang in the middle and the next second it's back at the bottom again,

The cars got fsh and there's a receipt in there for having the sump removed and pick up pipe replaced 3k miles ago, it says that a full investigation of the engine was carried out with the sump off and all was good, oil pressure checked and was good

Sorry for the essay but wanted to give as much info as possible

I was hoping some one has had the same problem/s with oil light and dodgy temp gauge,

Thanks

Temp gauge is probably thermostat needs replacing.
Oil pressure will also drop once engine is up to temp as opposed to cold, sometimes quite substantially

Are oil pumps a common problem with there's engines?
How difficult are they to replace? I'm quite handy with a spanner so is it just a case of removing the sump and unbolting it? Any special tools required?

I've got the same symptoms on my Altea 2.0 FSi, can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Call a couple of garages and both say if oil level is correct then it's likely to just be thin oil. Called DM Keith York and they say they've never come across it, book it in and they'll take a look in a few days.
