Oil Light Issue - I'm new btw !!

Hi,

I have read some threads and done some searches but I can't find the specific fault I've got and my manual doesn't describe it !

I was free wheeling down a 3 mile down hill section of road this morning, as I had 0 miles left on the fuel and needed to make sure I got to the garage.

The oil pressure light came on ORANGE, NOT FLASHING - 1 WARNING BEEP.

At the garage I checked the dip and it was low on oil, so I added 1 litre. No change, still on, not flashing. I drove the 4 miles to work and parked and left it to cool down for a couple of hours.

Re-checked the dip and, when cool, and the level was right in the middle of the normal dotted zone, but the light was still on YELLOW and not flashing. It comes on about 1 second after the red version goes off on start up.

Any ideas what's wrong ? From my searches here YELLOW means OIL LEVEL, but I've remedied that and it's still on.

Sound like it could be the washer bottle warning light. Oil level light is red

Hi Nic,

Did you ever get to the bottom of the oil light problem, i have the exact same issue on an 03 Cupra R, had the oil pressure/level checked, all ok, also had the Oil sensor replaced, still get the blasted yellow oil light with one beep.

100% sure it's this :

Sounds like your bonnet switch is knackered ,
The dash cluster should reset oil light when it recieves a signal from the bonnet catch switch
as it assumes you opened the bonnet to top the oil up.

From the fact that it comes on as soon as the self-test finishes, I'd say it was likley to be a duff oil level sensor, assuming you have one fitted.

have you had any check the fault code with VAG-COM?
