Hey guys, my red oil light came on yesterday flashing and beeping. Ive done a bit search and read it could be oil pick up blocked or oil pump. What im wanting to know is, the car is over due a service. The oil looks black and thick. You think this could cause the problem or is it unlikely?

Pick up, however shitty oil may cause it too.

Changed my oil and filter last week and the light hasn't been on since. Pick up will be done soon too.

Its been about 13k since its last change. Was thinking the old oil might have blocked the pic up

Been looking on eurocarparts for a new oil pick up pipe, cannit seem to find one on there site, have they got a proper name?

Is it safe to start the car up and let it tick over or should it not be started at all

I wouldn't if it is a blocked pipe when the oil is cold it is thicker making it harder to pass through an already restricted pipe

its a sump off job, so no need to heat up the oil first before draining, its also not advisable due to the pressure issue.

drain and remove sump, check/replace pick up pipe,
clean sump out,
oil filter change too
replace sump
WAIT> don't rush it, let the sealer go off.

fill filter and replace
new oil

fingers crossed.
