Hi there
seat 300- bought in May 23. Had last 2 service stamps with oil changed from Seat Dealer. Garage I bought off said they would change oil anyway. However got a message on dash saying Oil Service and inspection X days. Is this because it’s 12 months since the last seat dealer service or did the selling garage not change the oil/ did change the oil but didn’t reset the service light ? Either way is this just saying the oil needs changing? Also the info badge on door says tyre pressures are 39 psi front and 35 psi rear as standard- upto 3 people. 39 psi does seem a lot so just wondered what people are running their pressures at.

I think that at times, when buying an APPROVED VW Group car from a VW Group outlet, that a quick oil change is part of the presales preparation.

This at the time sounds like being a good thing, ie you start your ownership with new oil in your slightly used car - and then this happens, so that cunning extra "goody" has lost its charm and its meaning!

I was lucky the one time that that happened to me, I bought an Audi S4 at 2.5 years old as an approved car, but it had been left on long or flexible servicing settings. I overcome some of the inconvenience by changing the oil and filter half way through the long or flexible period so that saved "wasting" that oil change, but Audi expecting me to shuffle up to their door 6 months after an official service, just to get the Inspection parts carried out just wasn't going to happen - and they couldn't quite work out what my problem was with needing to deal with the oil changes/services and inspection at different times, idiots. Unfortunately that car came with 2.5 years warranty!

Edit:- I think that my older daughter's 2019 Cupra 290 tyre pressures are kept at these settings.

The 'standard' tyre pressures are higher than they used to be because polar bears. If the label has a lower 'comfort' setting that is what used to be the standard pressure. Try that. You can maybe go one or two psi below that but I wouldn't go any further.

TBF it wasn’t a vw garage but they all say there do whatever and there’s little evidence it’s done. The oil looks good on the dipstick and it was serviced by Seat 2k miles before i bought it 3rd hand.So it definitely needs an oil change then according to the ecu then? Mite get it done and the coolant changed- I noticed it’s still got the silica bag in the coolant tank as well.

yep 39 and 35 is the lowest upto 3 people setting. Just seems really high but sure others will confirm. It came with 33 psi all round so that concurs with what you are saying for the rear tyres anyway.

I'd try the 35 and see what that's like. I'm reluctant to run very low pressures on big wheels as you're already short on rubber so wheel damage is more likely.
