Yesterday I had an oil service completed and I know its my own fault I should have checked but when I got home on the service indicator there is a report - that the service was due 2 days ago now I have checked how to cancel the report but the service indicator also indicates an "Inspection in 311 days - 14000 miles"

The Cupra dealer is not local as I had it done whilst down at my caravan so I don`t particularly want to travel to return to them but If I cancel the report will it cancel all of it including the next service requirement indication.

Anyone know the answer - Don`t you just love the expert main dealers!

Can anyone shed any light on this - I had my Forrmentor VZN 1st oil service done last June by a local Cupra dealer and they used 0W 30 long life oil and now I have just had the second oil service done by another Cupra dealer and they have used Mobil 5w 30 oil - on the slam panel there is a label that says 0w 30 oil so I queried this with the dealer and the reply I got back from their mechanic was 5w 30 oil is the same as 0w 30 oil (no it isn`t) not only that but I checked on the Mobil website and they recommend 0w 30 oil also on every single oil brand I checked they all recommend to use 0w 30 oil.

What `s going on which oil should be used as the car is under warranty?

The recommendation of 0w 30 oil by Cupra the manufacturer and Mobil, Castrol, Shell, Total, Comma, BP etc or the mechanic who obviously thinks 5w 30 is better!

Go off the VWG oil spec rather than the weight. I dare say anything with a 508.00/509.00 rating will suffice.

Yes your mechanic is right 5/30 oil is better for your engine giving more protection however 0/30 oil is better for GPF regens as it produces less ash mass.
As long as you are changing your oil )and many don't) you will be fine.

Maybe mechanic is more experienced and considering it's no longer cold weather for June.
He thought it might be better.
I think I was listening to nissan master mechanic nissmo gtr skyline he recommended varying oil grade based on the weather during the year.
Which is tough for a normal user to do.
And using less expensive oil change frequently if you want to keep car for longer.
If it's a lease then follow manufacturer 10k miles and above oil change regime.
Personally we have a car in house hold from new honda city 2004 MY.
At 100K miles and has never seen a mechanic, oil change done every 5000miles approx.
Now one can go and figure what is right and what is wrong.
If I had a choice I would change oil at every 5K.
