hi, ive had a new oil pump, filter, oil, gasket, and soon an oil switch to try and rectify a fault where the top of the engine was not getting oil, understandably the engine taps slightly due to wear when no oil their when i bought it. intermittantly the light goes out and beeps stop, but it is now even more annoying as it does this whilst driving, before it would be only once engine started and over 2k revs then stop with light still flasshing, would replacing the oil switch cause this fault to be rectified?, what else could cause this alarm to go off, their is now plenty of oil at top of the engine.:(

its a mk1 leon 1.6 16v y plate 2001

no to be honest but its the oil light and the book says the 3 beeps are down to a fault within the oil system, could the brake system somehow cause the oil light to display?

it was checked and cleaned whilst the the oil pump was being replaced, there was minimal sludge/dirt, is their some kind of sensor to tell the engine information?, its having the oil switch changed weds, oil switch sounds too non technical tho lol

yes the oil pump has been changed now their is oil getting to all parts of then engine, i dont know how long it was running dry before i got it, i dont mind the tapping of the engine i assume its light lifter damage, could their be something more serious causing this, their is plenty of oil pressure as well!

right then, still getting the 3 beeps and constant oil flashing as soon as engine goes over 2k revs, in total the engin e has had a new oil pump/pressure switch/oil,filter, it has plenty of oil at the top of the engine and plenty of pressure - so what else could be wrong?, are their any sensors which could be faulty? would vagcom pick up any diagnostics or fault codes to help in this matter?

cheers

i had some problems with my oil light, and also with the beeping etc... i replaced everything and nothing cleared.. so i disconnected my battery.. and it went.. :)
