Hi guys,

Anyone have any ideas on where's best to install an oil pressure sender unit - bearing in mind i have a Cupra R which means that the spare plug the Cupra's have on the filter housing is being used for OEM oil temp gauge.

I've was thinking about moving the temp on to the sump plug using an adapter although I've read that the temperature in the sump is a lot lower than at the filter houing, where's most accurate to mount the sender unit?

I have also read about using an adapter block which can be plumbed into the filter housing and provides you with extra ports - anyone have the thread size or link for one of these blocks?

Something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Oil-Gauge-T-P...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item519951b27e

Cheers Joe.

I've got my temp one in the oil filter housing and my pressure sender where the oe sender is, used an adaptor to put them both on the same feed,

i used the same adaptor thats in you link, iirc the thread is m10x1 also

Tarzan I think this seems to me to be the best option and will give me scope for future developments. Do you know what thread type the oil filter housing is? M20 x 1.5mm, M18 x 1.5mm or ¾ UNF16?

Also does anyone know if for example the two sensor holes, in the sandwich plate, which aren't being used could be used for an oil cooler input/output?

watch your oil filter clearances with the sandwich plate joe and also this may interfere with posible oil cooler installs in the future. just to bare in mind...

I have plenty of space as I removed the SAI system. Will double check though. I'm currently asking around to see if I can use 2 of the empty ports as a cooler input/ output. Cheers though :D

Edit - this idea is stupid as it would mean the oil would get in the cooling system, ignore me I'm tired.

mocal do one which has the termostat in it and has 2 take offs also iirc there is an ebay shop that does them cheap too

Jonny - just had a look on the bay - found the thermostatic sandwich plate but it will have to be used as well as my other sandwich plate I'm looking to buy (link above from Tarzan) because it doesn't provide outlets for sensors such as oil pressure and temp.

Mine runs off the sump using the adapter.

Be interested on how different the reading is from there to the filter housing.

I may move it lol

i may be wrong but fairly positive ive seen them with 2 oultets for sensors too. could be wrong though

Right rang up a Mocal dealer and had a good conversation about sandwich plates and other possibilities for temp/ pressure sender installations.

My first question was "Do you have a thermostatic sandwich plate with 2 or more 1/8NPT outlets?"

His response was that Mocal produce a non- thermostatic sandwich plate with 1 1/8NPT outlet, they also produce a a sandwich plate with 3 outlets - neither of which is was I'm looking for.

He did suggest that I could possibly run both sandwich plates (originally what I wanted to do) and if clearance was a problem then I could always get a shorter oil filter as a lot of other cars, such as Ford use 3/4UNF filter fittings - Sierra Cosworth for example. I know the risk of the smaller filter could be that it clogs up sooner but as I'm planning on changing oil every 6k odd miles this shouldn't prove a problem.

The sandwich plates are both around 1.5" deep and I will be keeping my OEM cooler because it doesn't make sense to ditch it as I don't think it's a good idea for example if I'm in traffic andthe Mocal cooler relies on air flow across the front - the chances are I'm going to overheat. The OEM "water jacket" is very well designed as it's constantly cooling the oil.

Ideas welcome please.

its 3/4 UNF16 that i have on mine for the oil fiter housing. hole for the senders in mine are 1/8NPT.Good room for the oil filter it will go on ig you have the sai to fittend mine before i removed the SAI.

Hi guys sorry for this interruption but do you know where I could put my oil pressure t piece for my oil pressure gauge as I'm stuck on where it goes.
Thanks in advance for replying.
