have only gone a short run since fitting the gauge today... will see what it reads tomorrow when i travel to work as it is 25 motorway miles. Just a bit confused of the difference though as the autogauge one would always get up to 110c fairly quickly and never drop below even if just idling or gentle driving. I thought even that still seemed high considering the cooler was fitted.

it seems high with a cooler fitted? but frustrating not knowing which gauge is accurate.

somone on here said that normal difference between oil to water temps is 5 degrees lower water temp. so at idle wouldnt all our cars be same temps?

perhaps if you take the cooler off get to idle and see if the new gauge settles at 95. i guess this may rise due to chip once driving?

i havnt read the whole post :hide: so if this has already been said/tried . sorry

if thats the case then it would sound about right as water temp was 86C on vag com while oil temp was just over 80. Thermostat on cooler doesnt open until temp is 80C or greater. My mk1 golf g60 doesnt have an oil cooler and it sits about 85-90C normally. High speed cruising it rises to between 100-110C. Would be better if there were more people using different gauges on lcr's.

think it might be the sender for the new gauge as it only registered just under 80 today to and from work. The thermostat on the oil cooler opens at 80c + and i could feel the oil flowing through the hoses so the temp must have been higher than what the gauge was reading. Have new sender being delivered but might try the autogauge one out of interest, though i believe they are calibrated for set gauges.

just fitted the sender from my autogauge instead of the sender that came with the racetech one. Temp now reads 90-95 normal cruising which would seem about right ( that is with the cooler fitted). Will try the new sender that demon tweeks are sending at the weekend and compare. I thought senders werent universal but im beginnning to wonder?

im sure its fine.... but as youve said it would be good to get comparisons from other gauges and engines.

main thing is your the right side of 120!

looks like the new gauge is faulty :( and the autogauge is correct. Tested by placing sensor in bowl of boiling water and autogauge registered just under 100C. My new racetech gauge was reading 80C :censored:

Hi

Mine normally sits at 95c on my Autoguage. When it's hot weather or slow moving traffic sometimes 120c. Today in traffic it got to 150c. Water temp still sitting on 90. Is that because it's a sunny day. My car said outside temp was 20c. My car is a mk1 lcr with stage 1 Revo.
