Daily cruising for me is around the 110 C mark. A spirited drive around 125C

Track and top speed stuff 130-150 C. :-o (Slow down for a few minutes and its soon back at a normal 120C)

So its pointless having a gauge that only reads 120 C IMO

90 degrees is standard engine oil temp, if your hitting 120 its time to ease off, i managed 130 on a couple of trackdays but came in as the car felt like she was down on power (16v at the time)

You need to ease up - no way should you see that kind of temperature on the road. :thumbd:

but get an oil cooler asap

my brothers polo gti comes with an oil cooler as standard. We only found this out when we we're messing aroung with vag-com and when moving his oil temp decreased rapidly even tho he was giving it sh*t.

Mine on the other hand sat around 85-90 and the max i've seen is 95 after giving the car a good kicking.

130-150 are your running tar instead of oil? :bleh:

I was told that a oil pressure guage was better to have than an oil temp guage?
Apparently, it is simple to fit by simply replacing the sender for the red dash oil light with that of the guage.

Anyone verify this?

Thanks.

depends, most drivers are too retarded to look at a guage anyway

oil is no good if it's vapour, equally, no good if it's just been dumped out of the sump & you have no pressure.

when your oil pressure goes low on most cars the light goes nuts on the dash

the easiest test would be to unscrew the sump plug & go for a sporting drive - if no oil light shows then I'm wrong & I'll buy you a pint :D

if the oil light shows, then you should have stopped earlier - your engine has no oil pressure!
