What is variable servicing??

I will be getting mine serviced every 10k so what is that? 505.01?

Variable servicing is when th onboard computer tells you when it wants a service, fixed servicing is say every 10k or so.

So, looks like your on a fixed service.

I thought the service light came on at 10k to tell you that it was due a service? Do they not all do this.

Sorry for the questions. My car has only done 3k and I thought it was just a case of the light coming on at 10k and getting it serviced.

I am not sure as I dont have a Cupra, however if the car has only done 3k you may well have a first service, then go on variable or fixed servicing.

I am sure the others will know??

I'm sure my dad has a full 5ltr bottle of SLX II Long life in the garage which is 506.01.

It will do if I need a top up.

Think I mentioned this once before, but in a different thread.

Last time my PD130 was in for service, the dealer worked out that it had been chipped, and said that Seat now use 506.01 for PDs with 160+ bhp. They recommended that I switch to 506.01.

As my car hasn't got the best remap in the world and is just a gnat's under 160bhp, plus I change the oil between services (every 5k) myself with Millers XFE-PD, I thought I'd stay as I am.

But food for thought for anyone with PD130s remapped to higher outputs.

Just got a 20k mile service quote from my local dealer. He told me that the 150 Cupra TDi uses 'special oiil' that you can only get from Seat. I wonder if the VW and Audi drivers need to get it from Seat too?

Anyway... I asked him how much the oil was from them as a comparison. They charge a whopping £9.40 per litre for the stuff. My local motoring shop has Millers XFE-PD for £24.98 for a 5L can. I going to take this in with me for my next service and save myself a few quid.

from memory you should be using 506.00 or 506.01 - I think the 505 stuff is for non PD

i'm sure i have just read in the manual that the leon can use up to 1 litre for every 1000km travelled.... surely not???!

anyhow, mine has done 9000 since new now and oil only just on bottom 4mm of dipstick. Have put 0.75 litres in and only just on hatched area now.....

hav eyou heard of a new 507.01 spec to replace the 506.01 due to engine failures. It is supposed to be 5w30 instead of 0w30 in the old spec.
