Would appreciate some advice on what is going on with my 2004 Tdi cupra.

The air con won't let me engage the compressor and as a result I can't get cold air.
I think I know why the compressor won't engage and that is because of the outside temp sensor.

The sensor reading on the dash is always somewhere between -15 and 0.
I have changed out the sensor for a new one, but that didn't change a thing. Still reading in the - range.
The sensor readings do fluctuate, so this along with the two sensors I have had, leads me to believe the actual sensor is working fine.

I am currently thinking that it may be a wiring issue somewhere.
I was hoping that someone would have a little more info on this problem before I resort to having a professional look at it :)

Hmm my mk2 is missing out outside temp probe but the air con works, it shouldn't matter what the outside temp is, I'd check the compressor then the wiring/earth for the compressor
Sorry if I'm no help!

In the manual it actually states that the compressor won't engage if the ambient outside temp is below 5deg. It has something to do with protection against freezing :)

I think I am going to have to take it to a professional and have them look at it :D

Hmm I will repeat.. Sorry if I'm no help! Haha my car temp reads minus 77.... Lol works fine.. But it's a mk2, sorry!

Have you checked all the fuses? I had the same issue a year or so ago, and it was something to do with my brake light switch, faulty cruise control and a dodgy fuse. It all happened at the same time so I'm not sure exactly which faults contributed to the others, but I definitely had a fuse out.
