hi there just a quick one.... changed my spark plugs around about 2000 miles ago then i was having quite severe intermittent misfires when the turbo was at about 5psi+,i took them out out and the tips were rather black, so i cleaned them up with a wire brush then all misfires go and runs fine now. I was just thinking that after only 2000 miles they shouldnt look that bad, although i don't hang about and do give it some beef!!
is something up?

were the plugs dry? if theyre black it normally means the air/fuel mixture too rich and can sometimes be caused lots of low speed driving, but that one sounds like its not the problem! is your air filter clean also?

was the engine fully warmed up and driven up to temp when you viewed the plugs or was it cold start (hence sooty)

i have had misfire under boost and it turned out to be coil packs going weak.

well i dont do lots of slow driving thats for sure! and when i put the new spark plugs on i also put 4 new coilpacks on, yeah i viewed the plugs when the engine was cold. i will take a look at the filter. cheers gents.
