Hi, i heard that if you overrev your car, it is logged and it could potenitally viod warranty on the engine bits? is this true!? if it is then what sort of rev count would i need in order for it to be logged? I dont often go past 3k, but when i get a lil bored i put my foot down :D!

Cheers!

Probably past the red line, or hitting the limiter. It wouldn't suprise me if this is logged on quite a few cars, the F50 did this sort of thing and dealers would complain if they wern't driven hard enough.

i doubt they can do that, and if so i am guessing they mean red lining all the time rather than the odd heavy foot which is required generally at least once with every car

You won't exceed the engine limit by hitting the rev limiter when accelerating.

Change down to too low a gear though and the electronic rev limiter will not be able to stop the engine exceeding the limit. This will activate the warning.

just to add to this, now I have had my car remapped it revs higher. it goes quite a bit into the red now. does the remap take off the limiter?

TBH in a standard FR TDi you can rev freelly to just under 4k after remap the turbo will really pull to redline without getting breathless like yours probably does at the mo if you tried :)

Diesel Remaps wont usually raise the limiter as its wayy off its optimal boost output from the turbo, theres simply no point. The limiter is there cos theres no point in going further unlike petrols where its there to stop the thing blowing apart!

A fault will only be gogged about about 6000rpm+ ish. You can only do this like Craig said, changing down once your at high revs in a higher gear.

^^^ normally bend a valve doing that tho! i have heard that a diagnostics kit can see if maximum revs has been achieved
