Had my car cooing/sirens since 06 touch wood no turbo issues @85k.
I actually think I would miss it..
Mine spat the dummy out on the 22nd.. Driving away from the house came out of the junction and as soon as I boosted in 2nd gear the car jolted.. it sounded like a driveshaft had snapped and lost power and literally left everyone in a cloud of smoke.
After I limped off the main road and back into the car park I was going to re-try the car to see if stopping and restarted reset anything as the boost gauge seemed to show some a hint of negative vac just when blipping the throttle so I thought maybe the turbo was ok. As I drove out my other half thankfully chased me out the car park to tell me that I was dropping oil so I parked up again and put a container under the car to catch all the oil.. which as it turned out didn't even cover the bottom of the tub. After dipping the car there was a mere trace of oil.
Fixed now though and collecting the car on Saturday, New turbo, oil return feed pipe, intercooler pipe etc.
Now I don't know if I want a whiney turbo! I still don't know if that was related or not but after reading up on this
problem is seems very common. Turbo warranties are only upheld if the oil return feed pipe is replaced so this is possibly a big part of it.
Does the oil return feed get so clogged that it just builds up pressure in the turbo?
Would changing the oil feed pipe have prevented this?
Unfortunately I now wonder if my 2 mile city driving is really damaging to my car!
