Hello

This is my first post so please be gentle...

I have a 2004 Seat Ibiza 1.4 SX with two main issues at the moment, i think they are connected but i cant be sure...

1) Randomly on some days the car will struggle to start, when this happens I get the Engine Management Light appear. I have connected up my computer and got the following error code...
P0118 - Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor. Doing a bit more research I found that these commonly go on an ibiza of my age and you should change the Black Temperature sensor to a Green one.
So my questions on this are... how hard are these to fit? how much should i be looking to pay for one and more importantly can anyone send me a picture or explain exactly where it is under the bonnet?

2) My second fault has been going on alot longer (but I have learnt to manage it).. sometimes I turn the engine over, drive down the road and when i stop at the bottom the car revs drop (below 1000) and the car stalls (battery light appears on dash).. im wondering whether this is connected to the engine temperature sensor, only its bee happening for alot longer. Any help here would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance for any hep received.

What condition is your battery in?

This'd be my first port of call, I suspect a new one would sort both your problems out.

I don't think the duff coolant temp sensor would affect your car starting, but you should get it replaced eventaully to safeguard any possible long-term damage.

Battery

Battery has been replaced pretty recently, i the car turns over well does doesn't fire on odd occasions.

Can anyone out there send me a picture indicating where hte Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor is on a 1.4 Ibiza? Haynes manual doesn't have the best picture.
