pads and discs

I agree that ferodos pads and brembo discs are v.good, but what's the next best up if money wasn't a major issue?

a 2 piece disk set up and very good pads ie. ferodo ds2500/3000.
I take it you have a cupra r and are running standard 323mm disks, but which ferodos

I'll be changing to Ferodo DS2500s on the next pad change. Any recommendations for single 323mm discs or would you stick with the Brembos?

The plain EBC discs are good and cheap compared to the brembo discs.

I've heard mixed reviews about EBC. I'm not one to skimp on brakes - but don't want to take the leap to two-part discs either.

i had a set of ebc discs which warped after 3 months ! got a replacement set foc and again roughly 5 months and they have warped again
i had discs and bells on my impreza running 370bhp and they never warped in 2 years !
so my advise and which is what i will be doing (when i have sold the wife and kids lol) is getting some 2 piece discs .

The 1-piece brembos have been ok but not sure how much they will like the ferodo pads (guess I'll find out).

You thinking of getting standard 2-piece discs or grooved, drilled, etc?

where you are continually warping one piece disks, they are being used beyond their heat range, OR the pads are contributing to the higher surface temps.

LCR's are heavy cars, pedal feel is light, so you dont really appreciate how much work the brakes are doing when you are pressing on.

2-piece rotors go some ways to reducing the heat build up, BUT there is no such thing as an indestrucable disk brake setup in my experience of hard (race) use

I'v not long fitted new OE Brembos with DS2500's and they are fine, even after a track session at Lydden hill.

Hi DK - how have you found the DS2500s compared to the brembo pads? You've got the standard brembo discs and calipers yeah?
Do the ferodos take any longer to warm up? Are they bad for brake feel on the road as they are often mentioned as track pads? I would like good pads but not at the expense of feel and adjustability on the road where I'm not braking hard like on a track. Did you find the brembo pads lacking at all compared to the ferodos?

I did'nt have my brembo pads on for long and I had EBC Red Stuff's after so it's hard to say. Although the Red stuffs were better than the OE pads and the DS2500 are 10 times better than the Red Stuff pads.

Althought the DS2500's are "Track Pads" they still work very well when cold, as good as any other pads I'v had, they just get better as they get hotter,

You wont regret getting them, they are well worth the money.

Interesting that you say the red-stuff pads are better than the brembo pads - first time I've head that.

I've found the brembo pads/discs to be a pretty good medium-fast driving setup. You happy with brembo discs over any of the other 323mm singles?

I'm not 100% certain they were Brembo pads, they were on it when I got the car and they were pretty worn when I changed them so anything would have felt better.

The reason I went for Brembo disc's was mainly price, I got them for about £65 each (They have gone up now) and I did'nt fancy the EBC disc's,

Well as you know from my lovely brembo caliper affair I've got some spare brembo pads (new, unused) and am wondering whether I should keep as replacements or sell and get ds2500s next... I'll also be on the brembo std discs (not drilled or grooved).

Sell the Brembo pads and get the DS2500's.

You can get your disc's grooved but dont get them drilled, they will crack
