Right guys in the process of building up everything I'm going to need to sort out the paint on my Leon.

So far I've decided on;

Megs G220 DA
Megs HyperWash
Megs Quick Detailer & Clay Bar
Megs #80
Megs #83
Megs Finishing and Polishing Pads

Now I know after the washing, claying and swirl removal is done I need to glaze, seal then wax.

Now I have a few products already lying around including Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection and Zymol Cleaner Wax which I'm lead to believe is half polish/half wax?

How would you rate the AG as a sealant and could I use the Zymol during the process?

And that still leaves a glaze and wax to worry about?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I am at work so this is going to be a brief reply.

Glaze is typically a filler heavy product to fill in the RDS areas that you cant correct. I would say unless your going for the ultimate finish I wouldnt bother. I only used glaze product when I detailed peoples cars 3-4 times and I am questioning the amount of time it takes vs the results.

I would wash, clay, wash and swirl remove and then finish off with a Sealant like Extra Gloss Protection (as you have it) and a wax. EGP is not a personal favourite of mine as it takes so long to bond to the paint, at least an hour. However the results are good so be patient with it. If it doesnt come off willingly use some QD to take it off.

Dont use the cleaner wax as that will strip off anything you put down before it i.e. dont use it after the EGP.

Absolute gent cheers mate. What would you recommend over EGP? I don't mind buying something else if its worth my while?

Try a panel pot of DoDo Juice Purple Haze Pro on your paint (looking at your avatar it will suit the deep blue perfectly)... its a superb wax and has sealant ingredients in it (pro version only). The panel pots have enough wax in them to cover the car at least half a dozen times and are a fraction of the price of full size pots. You could argue that £15 for 30ml of wax could be spent on something like PoorBoys Nattys Blue but trust me, the PH Pro is a far superior wax.

Dont forget to come back with pics

Heard good things about this before cheers mate! So do you think I could leave out the EGP all together and just go with this after swirl removal?

Yes most definately, some people prefer wax to sealants.

Last year I used sealants, this year I am sticking to waxes to see how things fair.

I prefer wax to sealant, but I still use both when doing a full detail. At the moment I'm using this: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/sealants/chemical-guys-wet-mirror-finish/prod_339.html followed by this: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/collinite-no-476s-super-doublecoat-auto-wax/prod_207.html. I use a spray sealant after 'normal' washes when I'm not waxing (http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/dodo-juice/dodo-juice-red-mist-tropical-250ml/prod_540.html). I would also recommend Dodo Juice, though try a couple of the panel pots, one soft wax, one hard wax, see which you prefer for application and ease of use. Only £5.95 and easily worth it, I'd buy panel pots next time as I've got hardly used waxes in the shed that I try then move onto a different wax lol!
Soft: http://www.waxamomo.co.uk/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=413&idcategory=57
Hard: http://www.waxamomo.co.uk/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=408&idcategory=57
or for another £4 each, get the 'pro' versions. :)

OP I hope you dont think im hijacking but im after some similar advice for jonjay so thought i'd stick it in here rather than start a new thread.

I am soon hoping to buy the DAS-6 Pro from CYC, but im unsure which polish/pad option to take. I was thinking Menzerna, but would be interested in your choice.

It will be mainly used for paint correction on my 03 LCR.

Here are the choices: http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polishing-machines/das-6-pro-dual-action-polisher/cat_81.html

Personally I would say the Menzerna BUT, I don't like the pads. I'm using hex logic's and I can't fault them. I was using Megs before and still use the 7" pads but for 5.5's and spot pads it's these: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=164559 It depends on what you're planning to do, if it's just for your car, if you need heavy correction etc, whether it's worth buying everything separately or getting a kit and adding to it as you go along or as you need new pads or polish, look around then.

I have in the past gone from polishing to wax and also from polishing to applying DoDo Lime Prime and then wax.

It depends a lot on the time i have to complete the detail and whats actually required. Or how long the finish needs to be maintained for.

My brother wanted the Astra he had at the time to have a long lasting finish so i used Jetseal 109 after the polishing stage and then Collonite 476s. He didnt have to wax the car for 6 months after that !

On my bosses car i used lime prime and CG's XXX wax after the polishing stage then topped it off with Red Mist 36hrs later. He then waxes the car with XXX after about 3 months.

On my own car i tend to go from polishing to lime prime and then wax... its rare i bother with a sealant but then i am trying different waxes on the car fairly regularly so i'm not too fussed about the durability of the finish.

Thanks retro.

Thats not the first time ive heard that about the Menz pads. I might go for the Menz kit and see if they will swap the pads for me. It will mainly be for my car but i might get roped into doing mates cars aswell. I will probably eventually add to my kit with other pads/polishes once i get a bit more knowledgable. :)
