I have 57plate Ebony Black Ibiza and made the awful mistake of taking it to one of those hand wash car washes yesterday. I have to say I am appauled by the way the paint has turned out today and the sh1te wash they gave me. I usually wash the car myself but due to terrible weather and the car being coated in salt, mud etc, I took it to the car wash. I wash the car myself on a regular basis and use a sonus lambswool wash mitt and sonus shampoo and take great care in washing the car using the 2 bucket method and washing from the top down. I have spotted very light minor lines after ive washed the car but they seem unavoidable. After the carwash yesterday it has swirl marks all over it! [:@] which isnt caused by me as I wash side to side. - I know its my own fault! :headhurt:

Can anyone assist? I know I need a machine polisher to assist with the paintwork. But for the time being can anyone provide some products and steps for washing my car by hand?? i.e. shampoo, polish, and finishing? (I've had a look on cleanyourcar already! ;) ) would like advice from a fellow seat owner though :)

Cheers

i used some colour magic to cover some of the swirls it covers them ok but when up close looks the same. i have an ebony black one as well so i'm investing in a machine polisher for those swirls.

To remove the swirl marks by hand would be very hard work, I'm not going to say impossible, but seriously character building.

Something like meguiars scratch-x is quite effective by hand but you have to work small areas , no more than 1' x 1', for several minutes to break down the abrasives and may need to do each section several times.

Autoglym SRP is another possible route to take as it has some filling properties, which will actually mask the swirl marks rather than removing them, it's not a miracle cure and deeper marks won't be hidden, but for light swirls it can be quite effective. Top it with a good sealant or wax to lock in the fillers.

I never, ever let anyone wash my car, not after my detail session!!

This time of year I use a local jet wash and that does the job until we get a dry/warm day when I do it myself properly and it takes all day! :)
