I have a bmc-cda on stg2. It's in my garage atm. I swapped it for a smoothed airbox and panel filter cos i was fed up of the noise and to do some logs out of interest. i dont see much diff and i'm reasonably sure i posted logs of both but were done a couple days apart (took me longer to smooth out the box than i thought!) so not comparable in my eyes.
I might try doing logs same day but prob wont have time till next w/e.
I think i found best results were from disconecting the duct to the bmc a centimeter or two (I was worried about water intake at the time). This gave an increase in flow of 10g/s or something daft but increased the noise even more.

Im new to these forums, am I reading this right?

You guys are pushing 320bhp out of the front wheels on a leon? Do you have any tread left on those tires?

some are pushing 360bhp out of an ibiza mate there are not many 300bhp+ leons out at the moment but they are becoming more popular but there are some out there

if its mapped well its quite drivable....

traction is optional... all down to the right foot:-o

mr brockbanks beeza is pushing 400!

but if a smoothed airbox with a perfromance panel filter is flowing the same air as a BMC surely it is irish (no offence to the irish) to spend nearly £250 on a BMC when you can spend £50 quid on a panel filter that flows the same air

ben... have a search on threads by me for moddified airbox...

im stage 2 and i have a moddified airbox (i did it before my jabba map!)

my airbox is completly smoothed out and it has a green filter element (£40) and i bought some battery relocation brackets from "Feel" (£20) to move the battery over about an inch or so so i could fit a 104mm green cold air feed (£20) in the engine bay to the box.

so all in £80.

i did a before and after log and i got about a 3% gain i think, (about 10g/s at peak!)

last airflow log i did (stage 2) i was sucking 207g/s

imo a moddified airbox is fine for stage 2 as along as you get rid of the snorkel! ;)

and for the record, i asked mike at jabba if i would be better off with their induction kit with heat shield rather than my moddified airbox, and he said mine was fine!

cheers James just what i needed to hear i already have built a 3" hose into my airbox i just need to smooth it out and put the filter in it, hve you noticed much difference in noise with the panel filter

excellent pics that looks like it must have taken you ages to smooth out properly like that i think i will smooth mine out tomorrrow and order the Panel filter from Bill on Friday when i get paid

Drove mine for 1st time last night just around the block... :-o
Oh my god!

mapping in the next couple days

Traction very much optional in 3rd gear in dry.... no shortage of boost by god!

no probs! :)

an 80mm cold air feed will suffice... check this out too... http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?p=1081562#post1081562

as for noise, tbh the DV is about the same loudness as before but there is slightly more induction growl.... but it is all VERY VERY subtle! 99% of ppl cannot hear my DV, only i can just... tbh to sum it up, it sounds 90% like a standard airbox, just slightly better.

took me 4 hours i think to smooth the top half of the box! (i was hung over at the time! )
