Passenger door lock mechanism

Today i decided to replace the locking mechanism on the passenger side as the central locking doesn't work. No real problems except that the lock mechanism doens't match. I have attached a photo of the original part for easeness. As you can see there is a white circle where the key persumably fits into. However the replacement part does not. I have searched online and all seem to be missing the white circle/key holder. Am i missing something myself????
Also when i lock the door, then unlock it the door will not open immediately. It takes three of four tugs from the outside before it opens. It can't be opened from the inside. I think this is because i have put the wire connect the lock to the exterior door handle on too tight. Can anyone confirm this??

Thanks

A picture showing the differences between the new part and the old one would help, especially as your description is not very easy to understand.

If your new lock does not have a slot for the end of the lock barrel (not the key, the key won't reach that far) then it is most likely to be a rear door lock and not a front door lock.

I think the part in your first picture is called a support arm in the Vagcat catalogs.

There are several lock parts listed, and it isn't easy to tell which would apply to your car. Perhaps an email to Sere Motors (forum sponsor) would help, and give you price information too.

I suggest you join the Vagcat forum and search the parts catalogs yourself -after all you know where the bits have come from better than we do.
