Patterned parts - Clicking Clutch

Thought the exhaust was bad getting patterned parts ...now the clutch cable has been an issue, correct part number, not correct *loop* attachment at the end to attach to the clutch pedal. Incompetence!

It'd been clicking so opted to replace it, been without car since Tuesday Getting part from stealer 2mora

my clutch pedal made a couple of cracking noises in traffic the other day, anyone wanting to place bets on how long it will be before the pedal dissapears?

Old cable already removed and had wear on it, which was hopefully the culprit, otherwise new pedle box here I come

Gotta remember, car is 7ish years old now, not doing badly by any means.

Clicking only came about every so often, usually after long periods of traffic start and stop nonsense, so not a constant problem by any means, which is why I left it for service time. I'd hope a pedal box issue is more a constant clicking problem? Please enlighten

By sheer coincidence my Cordoba has develoloped a clutch pedal issue during this week.

Everytime I depress & release the pedal an annoying metalic 'clicking' noise occurs, Ive just had a look and the pedal box has cracked at its weakest point.

Cant understand why the structure is made from such thin guage material for something that takes repeated stress = fatigue

Cant decide whether to fix it in position (weld) or take the whole thing out and Beef it up properly

iv'e been down the pedal box route,i drove round for ages with a clicking pedal box untill it wore my clutch out,i ended up buying a new one from vw for £35 0r so just for the cage itself,i welded some extra metal in to stop it happening again i also put a new clutch cable in,also bought from vw its like brand new now.

Got it sorted in the end after some faffin about... was gona do a new thread with a different title, but will just edit this one.

ANYWAY...

Clutch cable from dealership WAS actually the same as patterned part, BUT, there was a small *hat* on the end which was glued on and didn't have a part number, so assumed it was part of assembly.

The clutch cable was correct, there are 2 variants, dependent on chassis number just for the record. Mine was part number S6K2721335H, but there is actually another part you need. This is labelled as a "Sleeve" and the part number is S6K2721147, costs 2 quid.

The pic below, compares old and new cable, I've circled the glued on sleeve located on the old cable.

Clutch cable from Stealership was 2 or 3 quid cheaper than patterned part (from GSF I believe).

Hope that helps some peeps in the same boat. And just to add, the new clutch cable has made a world of difference, didn't think I'd even notice bar the clicking. Gear changes are much much smoother, along with the linkage back into gear being the most noticable.

When the old clutch cable is removed, the auto-adjust I think is thrown out of whack, could be wrong, but something to watch out for if you're thinking about re-fitting the old for any reason after removal.

No clicking, and VERY smooth
