Hi,
I'm looking to do the PCV removal but don't have a catch can at the moment.

Can i do the PCV removal without fitting a catch can until i can get hold of the type i want without causing any problems or faults with the car and the breathing system?

I have searched but can't find the answer.

Cheers all

Rich

Ive been running mine without a catch can..vented under the car for a while..
After i fitted one with too smaller a hole on the catch can causing it to smoke...

So all you did was block off the tip, block off the inlet manifold and had the single pipe from the rocker to the floor? May do this myself

I went to Inters on Sunday and whilst talking to the guy who built the LCR race car i noticed that he had blocked the outlet on top of the oil filter so was only running the outlet from the cam cover, apparently the blank is a VAG part as some road cars run with this blocked off, so i may look at doing this as it is much easier to run the one hose, if its ok on a race car it should be ok on mine? i shall do a bit more research first though.

The amount of vapour I get coming into my can from both I would not feel happy blanking the block breather off, I believe the release of pressure out of both pipes is a good thing, and you need the combined pressure to enable the can to work, well in my case as my can was custom made to work with baffles to condense the vapour, excess crank pressure is bad and can cause damage, blow by ect I can't see how you could black the block breather, not good in my eyes.

Get rid of all of it and vent to atmosphere and not back into the inlet pipe, if you run the vent pipe from the can down the back of the engine by the steering rack with a breather filter, you get no vent smell at all, it also means it can just breath and vent at its own will not just when there's vacuum into the intake and when the PVC puck is open.
