Yeah, would have thought so, be very interesting to see a 160 vs remapped 130 on a track...
 
i had a go against my m8s pd160 but we were doing about 60mph before we started "playing" so the difference wasn't all that great...he started 2 car lengths in front and i was creeping up, but by the end i was pretty close to him. I reckon the difference would be more noticeable in lower speeds etc...top end wise wasn't much different.
 
Not sure about that mikey i have raced a cupra over about 12 roundabouts and he was easily 8-10 seconds behind me and that was on a hot day how much torque does a standard cupra have?? prob no-where near 314ft/lb

Still say driver skill would have more to do with it but also i am talking about a stock PD160 which produces about 170bhp and 270ish lb torque against a stock remapped 130 producing 175bhp and 280lb torque. You have added and exhaust,airfilter,strut brace and stage 2 map. Change the exhaust on the 160 and you will notice a lot of difference as the backbox on both the 130 and the 160 is very restrictive. On a road/track race the cupra would soon leave a 130 since the stock 130 brakes are crap so no matter even if you did go slightly faster in a straight line you would soon get fading brakes so you would have to slow down or crash when you came to corner the car.
 
my remapped 130 (180 with a paddle clutch) was very quick in 2nd and 3rd, but still pretty crap in 4th+, my standard cupra tdi continues accelerating hard till way over 100

i think mike has hit the nail on the head with the cupra being quiker taking cornering braking ect into account
 
Ok so not much in terms of performance but alot of diff in handling department ! I do remember the one thing that used to annoy me was how hard the ride was..anyone had suspension changed ? Just had a look through one of my olds phones with some 0-60 runs in the cupra and compared them to my old remapped fabis vrs...nothinf in it both around 7 secsonds !
