as said what actual oils are on the market for the PD engine. I know they need to be 505.01 equivalent but don't know what I can actually buy

The garage that did my last service used a TripleX or whatever it's called.
It's PD safe, got a bottle of it in the boot, I'll double check it in the morning

+1 for castrol edge 5w30. £35 from asda or cheaper if you get it on one of the deals at eurocarparts.

I have just ordered 5 litres of Comma PD oil from Amazon for my service on Thursday. It's what they used last time they serviced it and it is still going!

TripleQX, its Euro Car Parts own branded oil, its fully approved for the seat fr tdi engine. I work for euro car parts so I get it cheap, but i actually went for the Petronas Oil as it actually worked out cheaper for me on staff discount then our own branded oil. Only had it done since the weekend but already sounds quieter, runs smoother and my mpg has improved.

That's the one!
TripleQX 5w30 fully synthetic.
Not here any other oils but the local VAG specialist garage only use that for PD engines
