you guys must live some seriously hrash places , policed used to stop me everyday in old scooby , declared totally standard on insurance , they often check the car over for everything including drugs and weapons cause they must of taught i was a drug dealer, anyway they didn't care i had a bigger turbo on it fmic 3" straight through exhaust , and when my ex girlfriend crash it paid out no problem.

in terms of 200bhp from pd100 , its possible with bigger injector nozzles and better intercooler , no doubt the internals can take that power

Yeh we all live in the real world.
That's fine that they paid out that time. But that's not normal from insurance companies

fr's are dirt cheap on insurance anyway though, i had one at 19 and was a bargain to insure. and not sure why they dont matey but all you need to know is that you can legally decat a diesel with no bother

How much we talking Insurance wise as my 1.2 SX Ibiza is 2k a year fully comp, But It should drop to all most half that next month :)

I just want another Ibiza with more bite!

my FR TDI with all declared mods...remap/full exhaust, lowered etc...is about £700 (25 with 5 yrs NCB)

also you cant just think of power mods, what about brakes (at least 312mm set up), suspesnion, RARB etc...

My car flew through its MOT with no cat, was slighty worried for some reason, but it was all good!

I can add as many mods as I like and I pay the same, renewed last month adding a few new mods, no price increase (does say something like that on my docs). £460..FR 20VT though.

Yes it is do able, the amount of time and pennies you will put in to it will make it pointless.

You'll need to do all the above and consider upgrading the bottom end to the pd130 with oil spray.

Of all the ibiza the sport rider is probably the most pointless model to go for.

Ive got more points then i need to brag about and the insurance for a cupra is slightly more then my pd100 so maybe you should check it out and look for a reasonable price pd160..

Some times insurance companies are completely daft, I had an accident a few years ago, guy hit me, and because he was trying to get a personal injury out of it my insurance was just going to settle it to keep it out of court. Had to go get my own solicitor to take the case on went to court and the judge found that it was 100% other drivers fault. But because they couldn't be bothered, i near lost 4 years NCB for someone crashing into me [:@] [:@] [:@]

My 230bhp PD130 cost me £900 to insure fully comp, all mods declared at 21.

At 18 it was insured in my name, declared as being 180bhp (only remapped at the time) for £2k.

How old are you, if your paying £2k on a 1.2?

Really isnt worth risking not declaring stuff.

Also really isnt worth trying to get 200bhp out of a PD100 either. Injectors are different, intake manifold is much more restrictive, internals are different and not as strong, and what you save in initial insurance costs, you'll more than lose on parts.

Im 21 and ive got 6 points declared on my insuance, the pd100 comes out at about 600 quid i think, and the cupra at about 900... and you can get them for about 5 - 6k.... i know what id do if i wanted 200bhp....

and you get all the extra toys, brakes suspension, on board computer ect..

I think for this Threads sake...

Insurance aside, you can do 200bhp but its a waste of time and money, the money you'll spend you better of paying a larger premium on a better base car, theres next to no difference on insurance gaps on the ibiza

as above ^^ im 21 6 points and 1 year ncb and its about 300 quid more a year from my 100 to my cupra...

starting at a car thats worth say 3k and throwing 10k at it doesnt make the car worth 13k basically and thats how the insurance will look at it, and you will never return that money selling the car!!

the only thing that will remain the same on the pd100 will be the fuel tank and and block bottom end is different

or if your absolutely set on a pd100 just find a engine being broken out of another car thats 130 or higher and start from there!!

Or go the hole hog and get the 2.0tdi pd140 spend a few grand on injectors from http://www.advancedme.co.uk/ bigger turbo and so on and run about 300bhp

Being a young driver I understand why you may think this, however the stupid amount of insurance costs won't be beaten, just play the game, iv insured my 1.6s for 2770 for 10 months but got a price promise for next year of 1050 providing I have a full years no claims.

Building and buying a performance car is obviously for the reasons of driving fast. Without sounding like the government blaming speed but this kind of mentality is much more likely to see you in an accident! Have a look at prices for someone who's been driving for a short time (I'm supposing this because of your insurance price) but had an accident, I did and my cheapest quote would come in at around 6-7k. To me it really isn't worth the hassle mate, everyone would like a fast car, but unfortunately for us it's not doable, and looking at the bigger picture you see why.

Stick with the 1.2 until you can secure a no claims, save up and buy something decent you don't have to look over your shoulder in.

Best of luck

I know it is an old thread, but better to ask here then make new one.
Let's put insurance question aside for the moment.
What is the power limit for PD100 engine? I mean what is the limit with stock turbo? Then what is the limit of stock injectors? And finally with biger turbo and injectors along with uprated intercooler - what is the engines reliable power limit?

In theory, we can put in all known modes without opening the engine itself and get onto 200 HP mark, but what power we could name as reliable without changing engine?

If we ignore the insurance, which is at your disclosure entirely, i think it is possible, but if you are taking the risk on undeclared mods it seems much more sensible to take a pd130 (whose engine yields far greater tuning results than the 130), which is not much more on insurance, then do the exhaust change, filter and intake followed by a custom map and you would be looking just shy of 200 horses. If you then take into account the extra ratio in the 130 i believe it would be much better than a pd100 taken to 200 horses.

And of course with more subtle mods like these you may stand a much better chance of not voiding your insurance due to undeclared mods in the event of an accident.... sounds better to me matey

Well seeing as tom has got 270/280 bhp out of a PD130, I'd say its very possible to get 200bhp out of a PD100. Would take a fair amount of cash, but possible. Probably more economical to buy a PD130 and get that to 270/280 as tom has, more power for not much more money than it would cost to get pd100 to 200

Besides I don't live in UK so my legislation is a bit different - insurance we pay by declared power and it is fixed rate - I was interesting in technical limits of PD100 engine head and limits of lowers part of the engine. So, it was purely technical and retorical question.
Mapper I had spoke with claims he can make PD100 above 150 HP just with custom remap and that is with full stock engine, turbo, injectors and smic - only decat and panel air filter.
In that case I guess 200 HP is possible when major change is taken, but would it be reliable?
