Hello,

Been reading a lot about the camshaft followers wearing out on the PD130 engines. Were the engines in the FR TDI's affect by this?

My engine code is BLT.

I haven't seen anything on here about it, but I've seen stuff on other forums. Is there an easy way to check how they're doing?

I don't think they were much of a problem on the BLT engines, just make sure you use the right oil and it should be good

As mentioned, as long as the correct oil is used (VW 505.01) there are no issues.

The 'chocolate cam' is mainly associated with the PD150/PD160 engines. PD130 are really good reliable engines.

The PD130 isn't immune from the chocolate cam issue though as my FR had the cam and followers replaced late last year after I checked it and found it quite badly worn.

It would appear to be quite rare on the PD130 as the diesel specialist I took it too to have the work done was surprised to see it. The car was bought with 96k on and cam wear was diagnosed at just over 100k. Full SEAT dealer service history right up until the service before I bought it where it was done at an independant, so no idea what oil went in

It definitely pays to keep the right oil in the engine no matter what flavour of PD you've got!
