Right all I've asked a couple of questions so far about Modding the pd130 engine and just need a couple more bits of info/advice.

1. What does the small vacuum pipe on the top of the air box do and what's best to do when fitting an induction kit?

2. Will i get much of a gain with a decat high flow down pipe over a decay standard exhaust and if so how much??

3. Is there really much of a benefit removing the two valves everyone talks about??

4. Is the egr delete worth while??

5. Does anyone have any bits for sale that would be of any benefit to me??

Many thanks, james

2. Downpipe apparently gives better spool time on turbo / more reponse.
3. egr removal.. not seen anyone say theres any benefit from it yet/

Don't know what the vacume pipe does but when I fitted my Jetex cone filter on my Cupra I drilled a small 4 mm hole and got a washer jet pipe joiner an put it through the base of the cone filter through the rubber and fitted the pipe to the joiner so now it's doing the same thing as it wa doing befor

best mods for a pd130 -

remap
induction kit
egr delete
fmic
good service & oil!
full decat system (i'm looking at a miltek)

pretty much the simple easy ones to do, but ive seen some out there with alot of power using hybrid turbos, big remaps, port & polished heads, different internals and stronger clutches. all depends what power your after. Im looking for around 200bhp to begin with, and with the remap, egr delete & air induction kit ill be close, however the turbo this engine uses will give way after around 6/8 months of 200+bhp so either a hybrid or PD150 turbo from a leon is better for more reliable power :)

one thing you may find is the clutch may slip in certian gears as the power increases, had a friend with a remapped fabia and it slipped in 6th when you put the boot down, race/compition clutches are the alternitive :)

have a nose through my thread for ideas and what my plans are :)

U would not pull 200 bhp with them mods on the pd130 the Cupra pd 160 would only just make the 200 mark with the same mods. U would need a front mount also and Cupra injectors to get the the 200 bhp mark plus clutch will start to slip

First induction kit will give nowt really 2 bhp max full exhaust system with decat 8 to ten bhp max remap will put u to about 175 egr delete will not give any gains just keep the inlet cleaner With those mods ur looking at about 185 bhp max

Not sure I agree. I had 0 mods on my Cupra when I had it remapped, been fine for a while now and it pulled 200bhp! But I'm off topic :p

i am also going to be doing other work to get there? ive been told from many sources that the pd130 lumps are very easy to get bigger power out of and also have the potential. I was giving those examples for more power, as i said i will be pretty close..NOT at the 200bhp figure.

partly wrong im afraid. the cupra and pd130 injectors are the same. Its the PD100 that has the different injectors. The cupra's extra power comes from FMIC, PD160 Turbo, PD160 intake and different map. You are however correct on the rest.

very true, theres a number of pd130's now topping the 265bhp mark with various mods and they are truely special. The injectors dont need to be changed until you start wanting to hit the magic 300bhp mark which theres about 7-8 cars that ive seen which are getting there.

1. What does the small vacuum pipe on the top of the air box do and what's best to do when fitting an induction kit?

It feeds filtered air to the vacuum system. Best thing to do is follow it back to the black control box on the drivers inner wing and remove it completely

2. Will i get much of a gain with a decat high flow down pipe over a decay standard exhaust and if so how much??

On a standard or stage 1 car, no - a decat standard downpipe is more than up to the job

3. Is there really much of a benefit removing the two valves everyone talks about??

N75 and N118? Wrong engine, thats for 1.8ts, or some VW PD engines. You have those valves in one handy control box and can;t really be removed

4. Is the egr delete worth while??

IMO, yes. While it won't produce any power benefits, it'll save the intake getting clogged up over time. It also saves the EGR failing, as most of them do eventually

5. Does anyone have any bits for sale that would be of any benefit to me??

Tut tut  try ebay

Many thanks, james

There you go ;)

When you say remove it do you mean just the pipe or do you mean the whole vacuum system that some do??

NOt sure which bit you mean.

Remove the vac hose from air box to control box.
If you do EGR delete, remove the two vac hoses from EGR/ASV back to control box, and this also allows you to remove the black sphere next to the dipstick and remove the vac hose from this back to the control box.

This should leave 2 hoses connected from memory, which are both needed for boost control

if i we're about to buy an ibiza for modding i would:

get a cupra first
failing that,
bigger air intake & panel filter
seat sport intercooler
EGR delete & remap
rear ARB
followed by tt calipers & discs.

not too much spent and a fast enough diesel. anything more and the costs increase dramatcically, if youve got free £ get a new clutch as well.

Yeah a standard Ibiza Cupra tdi with a full milltek turbo back exhaust & remap would be 200bhp & 300ft/lbs Torque without the need for a new clutch so for about £750 you would have a very sharp wee light motor :)

I personally wouldn;t waste my money on RARB or tt calipers and discs.

Remapped Cupra will most likely still need a clutch sooner or later

Ock no dont be telling me that lol i got my full milltek installed on Monday nite along with a full service with new oil, millers diesel sport 4 & then got it remapped last nite - it feels alot quicker than standard :) Pulls all the way to 4,500rpm!

Next on the list is the EGR delete, good air filter & 18" lightweight alloys :)

Also is there anywhere that does a lightweight battery & fuel tank?
Also is there any point in installing a heat shield & putting in a huge cold air feed to an open cone air filter?
