Hi Guys

i have an unmapped PD130 and was just wondering what you guys get average mpg and also what RPM your doing at around 70mph? in 6th gear im getting at 70 about 2250RPM is that too high or about right without a remap?

A remap won't change the gear ratios at all mate.

That seems fairly high but like the Skoda vRs' they might have a short and a long ratio box depending on car year?

Mine is 2k @ 70mph give or take. Could the weather affect this? e.g. cold day needing more revs, or am I imagining things? Also what wheels have you got on yours, I have the standard 16"s. front tyres around 33psi and rears around 30psi.

The RPM for the PD130 should be around 1800 - 1900rpm @ 70mph. Even if the car is remapped, or you fit smaller wheels, the speedo will always show 70mph @ 1800 - 1900rpm.

The only time it would show any different is if the gearbox has been swapped for a shorter ratio box (cupra etc...) or the rpm needle has been removed and replaced in the wrong place.

Really? That's just silly! Mines a 53 plate 2004 Sport. Thought the facelift was late 2005

Anyone with a FR PD130 want to clear this issue?

Right my 55 plate 130 fr does 70mph at around 2100 rpm and 100 mph at just over 3000 rpm. So the fr must be fitted with a shorter ratio gearbox, giving it the right to the fr badge

Just checked today, my PD130 2002, does 1700 @ 70mph, thought it was higher! Not too shabby for the old fuel economy lol

Ok! So which is the best box ? Long or short?
I like my long box and with 380ftlbs the roll on acceleration from 100mph @2600 rpm (max torque at2600rpm) is rather splendid!
