Just wondering if its normal when doing a (very) cold start that it starts really spluttery. I tend to rev it a little bit as soon as it starts to stop it sounding so nasty.

Hard to explain really but I think you get the jist :)

Its absolutely fine once I've revved it a bit and its got going.

Thanks

I might be wrong but my first thought was fuel issue or even maybe you need your injector nozzles cleaning...maybe your glow plugs are on the way out?

As I say, I might be wrong.

Think mines the same but I just put it down to being cold as when its warmed up there no problem at all or any performance loss :)

My FR TDi isn't spluttery at all from a cold start - not even last winter when it was super cold...which got me thinking what it could be. I guess there's a lot of variables :)

Hmmm well I didn't have a single problem when it was warmer. And I wouldn't say it causing me a problem now. Like i say, rev it for literally 1 second as soon as it starts and its hunky dory.

Most diesels are a little lumpy and rattling on cold starts. My 07 plate coughs a bit on very cold mor Inge but straightens itself after a few seconds

Same here. Sounds rough / rumbly on first turn over then its fine, along with a puff of smoke too which is just from the initial start. No other smoke at all when driving.
I hate driving mine when cold, diesels are horrible and not smooth at all when cold
