Hi folks,

I've done some searching and cannot find any guides or instructions for how to change it...

Is it as simple as out with the old in with the new, crank a few times and finished?

Reading the LCR guide it says to remove the fuse for the pump. Is that needed for the ARL engine?

One last thing... It's the cylinder to the left in the engine right? (one with two hoses?)

If I feel brave enough I'll get a guide made up!

Thanks!

You can choose to if you wish, or ignore me also. When I do mine I clamp the hoses going to and from the fuel tank so that gravity doesn't bugger off with all the diesel in the lines. Then refill the filter housing with a bottle of injector cleaner and top off with clean diesel before sealing the top back on and removing the clamps. Fires up first kick as usual and runs sweet as a nut with no misfire at all.

Removing the fuse is to stop the fuel pump priming when the car door is opened, not something that happens on the diesels but it does do it when you turn the ignition on. So don't.

As viking has said, just clamp off that pipe so the diesel cant run back to the tank, however if it does or you have some difficulty starting the car just turn the ignition on and off 5-10 times and this will re-prime the system and allow it to start - NEVER USE THE DIESEL OUT OF THE OLD FILTER TO FILL UP THE NEW ONE.

This post is timed well. Just about to have ago at changing my PD150 fuel filter.

Looking at the new filter on the bottom of it there a black screw on cap with a nipple for presumably a pipe to connect to? Can anyone tell me what this is for so it doesnt throw any surprises?

I'm going to remove the pipes and zip tie the pipes to stop the diesel leaking and then use the igntion to prime the filter again as I have no diesel lying around or even a jerry can.

Finger crossed.

Hmm.... I could swear I replied to this earlier today.

Anyway, oil goes into a 20ltr drum and then to the recycling centre when it's full. Your local recycling centre should also have the same facilities, and also car batteries.

The filter on mine gets burnt when I set off the garden waste as it's only plastic and filter material.

Just done my fuel filter. It took longer than expected as I couldnt find the pliers so used a screwdriver flat headed, and a rag to squeeze the clips and eventually move them off.

It primed itself well, started and then cut out but then a few more primes and 20 seconds cranking at its seems fine now.

For info, you only have to take the clips of the two pipes nearest to you. the ones with the plastic bit can stay as they are, just pull it off and leave it to the side.

Having never services a car until my Leon I made the error of just whipping off the pipes, and sticking in the new filter.

Took quite a while to get it started after that, ended up just revving it loads for a bit, if they fell low it would just cut out.

Other than that, it was fine..
