PD170 Stuttering Problem Solved

kinda like your 235bhp that jbs claim
the cooler dosent hav anything to do with the stuter and if u do a proper egr delete you should remove the cooler as it isent doin anything anymore
Well if it is on their rollers I would not have minded 235bhp Same Rollers mine made 222 bhp so I am guessing the difference will be miltek exhaust as they cannot supply mine with an exhaust!
Me? No i had mine done at JBS. I once took it to 5hark after to see if he had any ideas and all he did was took a copy of my map and charged me £25 for the privledge (incidently a few weeks later they advertise de-dpf)
Its interesting as the map is now around 2-3 years old JBS had a tweaked map. On another note JBS are aware about their maps or copies of their maps as one of their maps came back to them from another tuner under a different name! I am sure it is intellectual property, however if I was JBS I would have coded in some sort of tail to tell them it is their software.
£25 pounds for a JBS map to work as a guide to release their own software is quite cheap. If you look at it this way the coding must have been complex to ensure that all the values of the sensors meet the original values so it wont throw up error codes. 5Hark should really fix yours now stephen.
Mine was DeDpf by JBS and done over 24,000 miles with only one problem pressure sensor! Anyway I am happy with mine. There is a slight stutter in 6th gear low revs below 1500 and full throttle however, a lot better then was before and my map is the newer one!

If 5hark had copied the JBS map, then how comes there are less problems with his than theirs? I doubt very much that 5harks tuning history started and flourished by them taking Stephens map and just replicating it
Fair point! The only issue I have had was the stuttering issue! Who knows what other drivers have had!
I very much doubt 5hark would replicate but used JBS as reference and the coding as reported on another forum has changed as there where issues with original manufacture software.. Both have had the stuttering issue both claim they have solved it but it seems not on a handful of cars?
I am happy with mine. IMHO both tuners have done a great job of getting to the point where maps are applied and people are in the main happy with the work! Which one is better I have not got a clue! but I can only apply the knowledge from JBS map and its fine for me!

well maybe it was JBS that copied 5hark map, as 5hark announced they had fixed it first, then a month later its on JBS's saying they can fix it too? Im sure its like a mini Apple vs Microsoft etc kind of game, but obviously as customers the main thing to worry about is that were all happy, so I agree with you there.
at end of day JBS and 5hark are both companies who are out to make money and we are the customers. This isnt tribal wars on whos mapper is better, you will probably find that both 5hark and Custom Code maps are wrote by somebody else, most likely Richard Washbrook
JBS De-DPF map was produced well before 5hark where even around on Briskoda, a simple company look up on companies house reveals 5hark have only been a company since 2010. JBS new version of there DPF Delete (i had flashed a few months ago) got rid of the low down 1st and 2nd Stutter, the EGR Delete got rid of the 4th-5th and 6th stutter

anotehr company that i hav looked into
is MRC tuning thers a guy that makes the maps for them in finland called davey and hes the guy thats working on a pd170 running a pd140 ecu and race injectors in teh pd170 engine
its running but not very good atm hes having to make a complte new map
p.s dosent mater who makes the maps thers only so many setings to change to give you performance
btw my map does still stuter on the 5ark map but i had to go back for him to update it but ineva got round to it
I wasnt suggesting that Custard code hadnt been round longer than 5hark, i was simply talking about who got the stutter problem fixed first and who couldve copied who. I think even if they were wrote by someone else i would rather have the 5hark customer care than the horror stories you read about JBS.

I had the same problems with stuttering, wish I found this thread earlier. I Got my complete DPF removed, because of these stuttering (and other misbehaviour).
I tought some gas valve was a little crappy, or that it could be the EGR. I had my DPF removed and a JD-Engeneering chip in it. It is one of the highy rated dutch tuners. I was told the EGR should not work anymore, because of the chip.
I got the injectors cleared, nothing helped. Then I asked to clear the intake and EGR. THEN they found out, the forgot to place this EGR-shut-off-plate. So they placed a same sort of plate on the same spot, and now I didnt feel these stutterings anymore.
For every TDI since 2006(I believe) there need to be made some software adjustments. Maybe's it's nice to put this in the first post. If (on >=2006 models) the EGR is shut off with a plate you will get engine faults. Probably the 'Engine Light' will light up.
So for every one having stutterings... Do the plate AND an software modification.
(ultrasone cleaning of the injectors also helps to give a better ride)

Rather than fitting a complete blanking plate it would be better to fit a full EGR delete! Why? Even though its blanked off it can still clog up!
You need to remove the EGR if you are mapping it out!

Hi all, thought I would chuck a quick post on here.
Appreciate that everyone has their own experiences however, my experiences with JBS/Custom Code all in all have been positive.
I don't have the pd170 anymore as I wanted something a little quicker.
But what I can say with the Wild map, is that from a standstill against a standard VXR, that you could pull away. I recall a couple of occasions.
I can't see how posts should be removed for mentioning tuners names, that's just communism?
Does that really happen?

Quick query on your photo. You said to undo the two Torx screws on the pipe. Which pipe are we talking about? I'm afraid i'm far from being a mechanic, but quite keen to do the work myself as it sounds like an easy one. Could you just let me know where on the photo you mean?
