PD170 What mods next? Many Pictures!

Its a PD170 doesnt have a cat, Has a DPF instead and hes already had it removed

All as you want is a small middle box nothing else

to make it sound beter you want a bsack box just before the tip if you hav a center section as the sound vibrates thru the pipe to the exit you get a **** sound


i would advise the back muffler back as close to the exit as possible should give you a nice meaty grawl without to much shout

and belive me wen i say the pd170 is loud without any silencers i did it for around 10 mins and andrewjb had his done with no baffle and its just to much its silly loud so i would stay away from teh no box idea

plus had half the sound insulating material removed from the box, it’s a good mix between noisy and bloody ridiculous (like Andrews). Also putting the rear seats down make a big difference (good for on track)

Your next mod should be selling your old headlights to me on the cheap so I can have a go at some projector conversions!

Thought about it, but changing the downpipe will probably fail MOT as it would be "modified" So leads to a big no =[

Spray/wrap heater and stereo surrounds

Would like to do this but again time consuming =[
Although maybe look into it in the future

What's the power/torque by the way?

Power im guessing around 210 bhp and around 300lb ft Torque
(Dyno day with cupranet soon, end of the month, Will post sheet up then^^)

You only have cat back don't you?
3 inch down pipe and decat

Again 3" downpipe might lead to MOT Failure, and theres no Cat, i got a DPF instead which is non existant.

BOV = CHAV sound on a diesel and you will loose more power than you gain as the turbo has to recompress all the air it just vented again so probably create some more turbo lag

as for the CAI ther is mayb a slight increse but not in top end power just that the turbo can mayb spool a little qwicker

still is somthing to just look nice and cost £ rather than do anything amazing

if you want to make a propa mod to your cold air intake then get an S3 all alloy intercooler

it wont increse power but if its just for looks thats cool i was thinking bout somthing just to make under teh bonet look a bit more impressive than just plastic all over

i doubt you will gain any noise with that


if you want noise you would be beter off with an open cone filter

I cant remember where but i read that these things give noise?
Reason why i dont want an open cone is because it will suck in hot air which leads to performance loss =/

Might end up getting a new CAI from prospeed exhausts where i got my exhaust from.
Price is around £250 i think. But its custom

if you want more noise upgrade the soundsystem dont waste your money on an intake

if you had to get one i would probably get an itg

filter wont add performance if the engine is requesting the turbo to make 26psi boost and its making 26psi of boost then an uprated filter is goin to make the turbo run at 27psi ther is 99% nothing to make ther is a slight chance the turbo could spool a little faster but this again is controlled by the ecu and vnt position


save money on the filter and get a forge short shift

your main problem is you hav bought a diesel and petrol rules dont apply

to be honest your about ther anymore and you will need a bigger turbo to push more boost

what is your current dyno print out and who did the mapping ? 210bhp ?
