Hi,

I have just bought an Arosa for my wife, it just has a few issues. (But i did get if for an absolute steal!! 130k, but full main dealer SH every 10k, 1 owner from new, on a W plate, with EW and RCL, £700!!!) :)

When you depress the clutch it squeaks and clicks. The chap who sold it to me said it is a fractured pedal case?!?!?!

Is this a common prob and what and how much does it take to fix??

The other issues are with the passenger door. The windows intemittent, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't :( (haven't looked into why as only picked up last Monday) and thats the same with the central locking on that door also.

One last thing, the drivers door creaks when opening, maybe just a bit of grease/WD40 but again, haven't investigated yet.

Cheers, Benno

I have a squeaky clutch too, but no clicks. It may just be stiff - but if it is pedal box, the part is cheap (~£30) but the labour is a killer, you're looking at 4+ hours to fit as half the dash needs to come off! But it is also possible to weld the old one if it's not too broken - if you pop over to club lupo there are lots of threads about it :)

Passenger door window may be dirty runners - there is a safety system that retracts the window if it senses something in the way (like a kids head/arm), but it can do the same if it sticks. Spray some silicone spray along the runners and see if it helps anyway.
Don't think that would affect the central locking though, and don't have any suggestions for that.

The drivers door may well need a new check strap - about £15 from VW, pretty easy to replace. Again, club lupo has lots of info on it :) It might be worth doing the other side too, and the hinges while you're at it as the Arosa doors are so long they wear both out quite quickly.

:)

I'm glad someone brought up the subject of creaky doors - I felt too embarrassed to say for some weird reason.

Both doors on my Arosa make two snapping noises and creak everytime they open and shut.

Guess I better get down to my local VW dealer sharpish, the SEAT dealership in Liverpool closed about a year ago......

Yup, that sounds just like check straps - nothing to be embaressed about

they tend to wear out, its not a big problem but obviously replace them if you want quiet doors

The hinges have already ben done on the drivers door so it must be just the check strap or just a bit of lubrication.

I'm waiting for a quote from my local mechanic on how much a replacement pedal box would be to supply and fit, when i rang him he said he had done the same job on other Seat's so sounds something common to the brand.

I'll let you know how much he quote's as others may find it useful....... and cheap hopefully :-o

I'm going to clean the car up today and take the door skins off so i'll let you know how i get on with the doors and CL etc.......
