Since getting my new FR in March I have mailnly used BP Ultimate or Shell V Power diesel in my car.
Has anyone got any views as to whether it really is worth it?
My nearest BP and Shell filling stations have recently changed to Texaco and Total meaning that the nearest I can get Ultimate or V Power is about 10 miles away.
I filled up with BP Ultimate this morning and it cost me 127p a litre. Is it really worth paying 10p or more extra for a litre of fuel. Would I notice much difference if I just filled up with Sainsbury's Diesel?

When i had the diesel I only ever used shell diesel, I never bothered with the V power, its different now and i only ever use V power in the cupra as it can be mapped to take into account the higher octaine. I used TOtal once and the car didn't like it, and i would never put supermarket fuel.

I had an old 1.2 clio as a winter car a few years ago. When I first got it I tanked it with Tesco petrol as I had a voucher from buying food, something like 5p off every litre. The car ran like a bag of crap. When that was nearly gone I tanked it with Shell petrol. It was a totally diferent car. It ran so much better. Since then Ive always used proper petrol like Shell, Esso & BP. IMO its worth the extra money.

For petrol cars I think there's a discernable difference using V-Power. My FR TFSI ran and idled smoother when using it. For diesel cars, I'm not convinced it's worth paying extra but I only ever use Shell regular diesel.

I use shell regular diesel when i can. if i cant get to a shell garage then i will use BP or Total. dont like supermarket fuels since my dad had a really bad experience a few years back...

I drop a dose of Miller fuel additive in with every tank full... with the new shell diesel and the additive the car runs really well and i get at least an extra 30-40 miles from a full tank.

Ive been running Shell Fuelsave recently rather that V-Power and it feels no different

Theres also a thread on here somewhere that Shell have replied to via email saying that Fuelsave Diesel has a higher Cetane rating that V-Power

As I said in my original posting although I have tried to use Shell V Power or BP Ultimate diesel in my car since new it just isn't practical now that there are now no Shell or BP filling station within 10 miles of where I live. Even then they are not on regular routes that I use and need 3 or 4 mile detours to visit them.
I am really mainly stuck with Texaco, Total and Jet plus my local Sainsbury's. I used to run my previous 2007 pre facelift FR on Sainsbury's diesel and had no problems.
I just wondered whether there was really any significant difference in performance and whether it was worth doing the extra milage to buy the fuel or pay the extra money for it.
To be quite honest, apart from perhaps getting slightly more miles to the gallon out of V Power diesel I have not noticed any significant difference in performance but perhaps that is because I've not run my new FR on standard fuel for any long period of time.

I've only ever put supermarket diesel in mine, but curiosity got the better of me the other day and I slung some v-power diesel in.

Seems to be returning 5mpg more, with no change to driving style and *might* be giving a slightly smoother delivery of power. I've not made my mind up if its all in my head yet though....

Stay well clear of Morrisons diesel

To cut a long story short dad has a 09 plated Ford Torneo which weve had from new and its had 3 sets of injectors first two went while using morrisons diesel

3rd set have been fine since using shell
