Bilston.
Guys,

I'm in the process of having clutch and lfy wheel replaced after much raping of my poor car.

Any how this has now got me thinking about a remap.

I understand that a remap gives me more torque and more power, however i've been offered a remap and a militek exhaust (cat back) for a good price also.

Would i see any significant change if a remap with the exhaust as aposed to just getting it remapped.

What other things should i consider whilst making these changes.

BTW its a mk4 06 1.9Tdi FR

Thanks

Depends if the Miltek is a turbo back or cat back.

Turbo back will run a Decat which will help spool the turbo quicker and will produce slightly better figures.

Cat back will make no difference bar a bit of noise.

Hardware before software though.

I'm pretty much concluded on the remap for economy but i see what youre saying about the down pipe and decat.

Perhaps just a remap and leave the standard pipe in place.

Ok after a bit of searching i'm a tad confused.

I'm being told a decat will fail its mot (derv). But some folks here have passed anyway.. is it a test essential that a cat is present or does it just have to pass a smoke test?

i have a stage 1 revo remap on mine to a qouted 170bhp and 280ft/lb torque and i honestly could not reccomend them more. done over 6000 since then and it hasnt gone wrong. fuel economy is similar and you can seriously feel the difference
