Damn you people with the 1.4 I feel sorry for MPG wise!

I thought my 1.6 was hungry but not compered to what most of you are saying I'm happier!

Out of £35 of petrol I can get around the 250 miles and thats mostly motorway driving. In to work I can get 52MPG recorded on the computer.

The tank in the Ibiza takes 45 litres so god knows how you are managing to get 60 litres+ into it from a Tesco pump!

Next time I'll take a pic. Today I put in 75 quid just under 60 litres. Trust me it may state 45 but they must be a hidden tank or bigger cos I can do way more than 45

I must be doing something right then, i travel 42 miles a day from my house to my work and back, 6 days a week. My drive involves 40-60mph, i fill up £55 when the light comes on, texaco/shell/total, each give me roughly 450-500miles, and if i use redex, which i do often, i can get 520. mines a 1.4 sport, first service was a year ago(done 20k since), so duno what more ill get when its serviced again lol

Used to get 40 - 43 with the Boca just "normal" driving. Spirited used to be low 30's spending wise 35 - 40 quid a week. Supercopa far as I can tell 40 quid and half a tank, being good and a wee bit of grunt and bark when I can. Still not done my first 1500km yet so taking it easy (ish).. Im being good and its killing me! :D

Maybe i am just being fussy but it just seems to drink it.

Gonna give the working out mpg a go though i think.

Thanks for the replies though guys!
The mpg ratios sure do vary.

300 miles on £40 is very good, bare in mind £40 is something stupid like 30-32litres.

Used to run a 1.4 16v polo 9n sport and 350 miles to a tank on the motorway.

The trip computer is pretty rubbish to go off. I was driving a mk6 GTI the other week and the trip went up over the course of the 80 mile run suggesting that I would get more miles than when I set out... The fuel gauge however moved quite a bit.

I'm pretty sure the trip computer works out the miles remaining figure based on current driving style and therefore could quite conceivably increase if you've just finished a long journey on open A roads for example if previously you had been in stop start city traffic.

Mines coming up to 15k and I'd say that I get better fuel consumption now than I used to like definitely.

My 1.4 is really good on fuel. I work out my exact mpg after every fill up and I'm getting between 40-45 mpg average. My last car was an Astra Vxr and that was only averaging 29 mpg at best.

I think people forget just how much fuel gas gone up in recent years and how little you now actually get when you put say 40 or 50 quid in your car.

Back in 2009 petrol and diesel was averaging at the pound mark. So where in 2009 you were getting 40 litres for £40. Now your are geting around 30-32 litres for £40. Thats over two gallons less.

Went down to thorpe park and filled a bit into the vent tank. Got 47 mpg on the way back and 44 over the tank which was including driving the outskirts of london. Look at the range added to the trip.

Was about 30 miles higger till i got bored towards the end of the journey ;)

Went from Nottingham to Barry Island, Wales this week with a full tank (45litres) in a 1.4.copa petrol, including mileage while down there completed trip on one full tank doing 450mls.

As promised I took a pic of the pump today filling up my 1.4 I could have kept goin but didnt wanna run out of funds. 45 litre tank my arse

Im really impressed with the fuel consumtion on my cupra, i seem to get about 35 mpg and thats with basically all my driving been done in stop and start town traffic. I think thats miles better than its rivals with the same sort of power. And it's also 1mpg better than my old 2007 plate 1.4 clio.

Bloody hell Charlotte, that should be impossible. Does that just happen at that particular Tesco?
I've run mine down until all the bars have gone and only managed 42 litres in it.
