Pillar Pods - Need Advice?

After using the search function on the forum I still have a few questions for people. Looking for pillar pods, seen the nomad ones and also universal gauges. Gettin the pillars retrimmed anyway so my question for you is what is more practical. Do the nomads come with a screw or clip in like the standard pillars? Would I be safer molding the universal pods into the pillar? Which option would be cheaper?

Last but not least, after browsing on the forum I heard someone mention about pillar pods being an mot fail. Is this true or a myth?

Mine didn't fail an MOT with the gauge in place! Mine's made to fit the pillar, it's not a complete pillar, just a pod to fit the a pillar trim. Nomad pods are a full pillar trim though.

See your from England, over in Northern Ireland were im from our mot centres litterally rape us lol.

If I bought a pillar like yours would I need to smooth the wee lip out before getting it re-trimmed?

Windscreen:

Examine the swept area of the windscreen and the driver's view through it.

damage not contained within a 10mm diameter circle, or
b. a windscreen sticker or other obstruction encroaching more than 10mm
c. a combination of minor damage areas which seriously restricts the driver's view

In the remainder of the swept area:
d. damage not contained within a 40mm diameter circle, or
e. a windscreen sticker or other obstruction encroaching more than 40mm

Note: All the items listed in the information column should be taken into account before rejecting a vehicle.

If you smoothed the edge from the pod to the pillar you could re-trim it and it'd all look smooth! Have you seen a picture of it?

This would be a FAIL, so I just remove the pods when it comes to MOT time
