This is still on going??? Doesn't instil much confidence if you ask me, this has been going on for a while now. It's certainly not the standard of customer service i'd expect. I hope you get sorted soon bakes!

Hello all,

I apologise that this is dragging on, I want it resolved as quickly as possible, As i said i was going to look under my friends Leon Cupra 1.8 20v T (non Cupra R)

I have since found the exhaust is different, The Cupra R has a flange fitting and the non-R is a sleeve.

I need to get a Cupra R with one of our exhausts on, in to our workshop for us to look at. If any one lives in the Kent area and is able to pop down, we can get the car on the ramp and get it sorted.

Even though I live in Essex I am more than willing to bring mine down if it means a suitable solution will be found.

There was a Seat Leon Cupra R down to get the initial exhaust build for this range.
Really sorry to have to say this but this is terrible service for such an expensive system.
This will lead people to not consider the extra expense over the Blueflame system.
Get this sorted for the man to save Pipers reputation as its crumbling badly!!

Hi, Thanks for the offer, The only problem im worried about is the time it may take to fix it, im hoping it would only be an hour or two to make a new pipe, make a new jig and prove it all, but its a sort of job that could roll over to 2 days, and because of the distance it could make it arkward for you. Unless you wanted to leave the car with us for 3 days?

I can only offer to sort and replace the front section of pipe, I am unable to offer any financial compensation for the transportation costs.

If this is ok with you then i can get things under way, Please let me know.

I know this makes the company look bad, But please be aware i want this resolved ASAP

Hello all!

I have just been made aware of this issue, Can someone please tell me more about it,

As i understand the mount is too low and causing the flanges to pull away from each other, is that correct?

If anyone has some more pics il see what i can do to get this resolved, and apologies for the trouble!

Piper Exhausts
sorry but if you were fully concerned about getting this problem resolved then it would not take 5 months to make any progress.
Very disappointed with Pipers handling of this.
I was going to buy a Piper system as the customer service that was offered was good, this seems to have vaporized with the change of employee.
Shame, but the customer service all seems to be typed words not backed up by actions.

If you could send a new centre section that would be great, although I wouldn't be able to return the existing one until the new one is fitted as the car is my daily driver and I obviously can't drive it without an exhaust! When would you be able to get one over to me by?

Thanks

Stuart

Hi,

I really want to try and avoid 'guessing' at a new pipe its a lot easier to do it on the car, Like i say, i really want to get this right and not just 'close enough'

If sending of a sample pipe for testing is the only option then i will do it, but i want to explore all other possibilities first.

I am not sure if this helps at all but I do not need my LCR Monday - Friday so leaving it with you for 3days wouldn't be an issue, I live in Surrey so the distance isn't impossible. However, I do not have a Piper system fitted, just the OE Cat-back connected to large DP & Race-Cat so if there is no other way that you can resolve this, I'd happy to give you my car to redesign the current system that you are offering, perhaps non-resonated also ;).

In return, I won't expect reimbursement for the travel costs although I would hope that we might be able to reach an agreement on a substantial discount on the Cat-back that will be fitted and tested on the car, seeing as I am in the market for one anyway ;). I have been a loyal customer of yours in the past (albeit through Halfords) and your workmanship on those parts was absolutely fantastic, I'd have no issue with you doing this and I am sure this problem can be overcome :).

Do you still have the standard items that could be put back on, We wouldnt really like to work from someone else design as this may be what caused the problems in the first place.

I do still have the OE down pipe and twin-Cat assembly sitting unused in my garage. I use a PipeWerx 3" down pipe and 200cell single race-cat which are of a very good fitment, the OE cat-back (2.5") sits in the same place with no rubbing at all. It's your call which DP/Cat assembly you might want to use of course, just so long as the upgraded items are put back on the car if they are removed and with good gaskets to prevent any leaks.

If you dont mind bringing the car along with the standard items in the boot, we ca ngive it back to you with one of our new front pipes on.

Its difficult to judge the time of a job, it could be a small fix that takes 1 or 2 hours, it could take a few days to sort out.

Hi,

I really want to try and avoid 'guessing' at a new pipe its a lot easier to do it on the car, Like i say, i really want to get this right and not just 'close enough'

If sending of a sample pipe for testing is the only option then i will do it, but i want to explore all other possibilities first.

This is true but as I was trying to get across in our phone conversations and from the pictures I have sent I cannot really see how others would have fitted / paid to have fitted an exhaust system identical to mine and not had any issues, ive raised the system up so that it doesnt hit the bracing beam, which in-turn means the tailpipe can now touch the bumper at the rear, the support bar on the mid section of the pipe which is supposed to pass through the red rubbers also touches the metal heatshield on the exhaust tunnel which causes vibration while driving due to it not sitting square with the flange , and also if I slam the boot or one of the doors with reasonable force it rattles against the sheild.

Also further back on the mid-section the pipe is very very close to the underside of the car which im sure isnt how it is supposed to sit.

This makes me think that the pipe I have may be an isolated case (or one of very few) that has been produced out of tolerance.

In terms of cost to you I would of thought it would be far cheaper for you to send me out a new centre section (which im sure you have sold many of since I brought mine, without complaint) than bring a car in for 2 days to fit a new system to.

Then if the pipe you send out still doesnt fit you will know you have a more serious problem in terms of design or maybe with jig warping due to constant heat/cooling of the metal as each exhaust system is welded in situ.

Although if the pipe does fit you will know it must have been an isolated incident, and I will be happy that I have a nicely fitting exhaust and you will be safe in the knowledge that the product you are selling is fit for purpose.

:)

Mine is doing the exact same thing as yours Stuart. Hits the floor as it comes up over the rear beam, is extremely close as it comes down along side the fuel tank and then also hits the heat shielding near the centre support. It also vibrates against the bumper becuase I have had to pack the centre support rubbers.

I am getting extremly close the binning the whole thing and starting again. The amount of time wasted trying to the this thing to fit is getting beyond a joke. The last guy who attempted to get the fit right described the fitment as "like a d**k in a shirt sleeve" I really really wish id gone with my intial thoughts and got a Blueflame or Pipewerx. In all seriousness i think the standard system was a better fit even though all the hangers had fallen off!

So come on Piper what are you prepared to do that doesnt cause us inconvience, afterall non of these probelms are down to us. You sold us a system that should fit a LCR perfectly instead we have something that nearly kind of fits, which for the money just isn't good enough! Especially after the episode with with rusty tips.

Apologies about the rant but this is starting to get on my nerves and it really lets my car down.

Matt.
