Piston rings replaced

Hi folks just looking for a bit of advice. My Cupra is going in to have its piston rings replaced due to high oil consumption, but after reading a few threads on here I am wondering if I should have demanded a new engine? I don't know anything about engines and just hope by doing this repair it doesn't leave the engine not running 100%?? Any advice would be appreciated guys.

I had mine replaced and I cant find any difference. I even tested the top speed in the same road to see if I lost any power

But yeah, I'm also sad that my engine had to be taken apart to change whatever they did.

that aside, if they think replacing the rings will cure the problem id let them get on with it mate. having a new engine isn't everything, they don't reset the clock and you have drive sensibly for 1000 miles which is a lot more difficult than it sounds lol.

I drove sensibly the first time it happened lol so what's the point!

Iwould drive the nuts off it. The rest of your engine is run in so its just the rings that need bedding in and the best method for that is hard driving. So enjoy

yes i would bed in new piston rings hard so bore is bed in once they fitted, then take slowy , and get it serviced again with new oil, filter

i also had my piston rings replaced and its all good, the only thing im worried about now is the water pump seems to be making alot of noise or maybe its just my imagination, once you got problems with your car all the noises seem something bad gonna happen

Well engine replaced. Now it has fully died. Wont even start, sat on my drive way looking rather sand and pathetic. Turns over wont fire. Not battery so probably either fuel pump or a solenoid I reckon. Anyway the dealer will have to come and get it as It wont even move.

This has to be my worst car ever. So fed up words dont even come into it. 2 years of bloody grief.

Feel your pain mate. I have only had mine since September and already there is too many things bugging me about it. Hope it is all fixed now bud.

Cheers for all the advice guys. Still waiting on her coming out of the garage. Have to say though I have got a 1.6tdi ibiza courtesy car just now and so far I have noticed it doesn't rattle inside as much as my Cupra even though it has done more miles than mine. It responds quicker than the Cupra. What I mean is when you push the accelerator it drives, unlike the Cupra where it has a delay which scares the **** out of me at times.

I have to say the Skoda Yeti that I have been given is really good, very comfortable drives really well. Mind you its as ugly as a pig bite! Had a look at them on line and what you get for the money is really good. Only down side is the boot is a little small for the size of vehicle. Best of all it does not rattle n bang!! On the Bocaspanners its fixed just being tested and should have it back tomorrow. Cant collect today, and to be honest Im not arsed about picking it up because I am so fed up with it.
