I was looking at getting plasti dip spray paint to do my front and rear s badges and the Chrome lip on the grill and possibly the engine cover, was wondering if anyone had used it before? And is it any good?

I have just done a full diy refurb of my winter wheels with Cardip UK spray dip. It is a UK manufacturer and therefore better priced but essentially the same as plastidip.

I have a thread on Briskoda here with lots of pics and info

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/294390-dip-it-dip-it-real-good/

Edit: please don't do the enginer cover, I really don't think dip is the right stuff for something exposed to those temperatures.

I've used plastidip on 3 sets of alloys and the front bumper lip of my Nissan 350z:

Its really good stuff but as Sparkly says its more expensive than other products out there (of which i havent used).

I think the products are very similar.

However if you look at Plastidip, we get killed here in the UK by import costs (be they imposed by the resellers or tax and shipping)

If you compare what the Americans pay for a spray can of Plastidip it's cheaper than what I paid for the Cardip UK product (£8 per can ish)

I found it very easy to work with, but preparation is not something you should skip or take lightly.

Also I can't comment on longevity of the finish yet as my wheels got done this weekend :)

Ive done several things on mine using plastidip. I did my front S badge, spare wheel and wheel nut covers. I'll upload a pic when I figure out how. Its dead easy and simple to use

I can recommend taping off your sidewalls, thin overspray isnt easy to remove, unless the coat is thick it doesn't peel.

I would also encourage people to cover up the wheel bolt seats too when spraying.

That was my spare wheel and the tyre needs changing, which is why I didn't mask off the wheel, just FYI. I would also recommend masking the tyre before application

I've just run out of Plastidip, so I've ordered 2 cardip aerosols in black to give them a go. £18 delivered the pair :)
